    Psalm 103

    Psalm 103 is a hymn of praise written by David that calls God’s people to remember and celebrate His grace, mercy, and steadfast love. We as God’s people can suffer from “spiritual forgetfulness” just as the Israelites did during their exodus from Egypt where they saw God deliver them from the hands of Pharaoh. During their exodus, they saw God part the Red Sea, provide them with water when there was no water, and provide them with manna daily to sustain them. But they would quickly forget these blessings and begin to grumble and even turn their worship to a golden calf.  We struggle with that same forgetfulness today, forgetting the good things that God has given us including our salvation, and we begin to focus on the challenges and disappointments that come our way, causing us to lose our gratitude, thankfulness, and worship of our Holy God. In this psalm, David calls us to remember four specific things: Remember God’s Personal Blessings (1-5) Remember God’s Compassionate Character (6-13) Remember our Frailty (14-18) Let Gratitude Lead us to Worship (19-22) Someone once said that gratitude turns mirrors into windows. A mirror causes us to see ourselves; a window helps us see beyond ourselves. May Psalm 103 turn your mirror into a window that allows you to see beyond yourself and your problems and turn your focus to a window that allows you to see and remember God’s goodness, grace, mercy, and steadfast love for you!

    Luke 9:1-9

    Luke 9:1–9 shows that faithful ministry is not about drawing attention to ourselves but about pointing people to Jesus. As Jesus sends out the Twelve, He equips them with His power, directs them with His mission, teaches them to depend on His provision, and prepares them for rejection. The passage reminds believers that every aspect of gospel ministry belongs to Christ and must be carried out in humble dependence upon Him. When the church serves in this way, we’re able to keep the focus on Christ and not ourselves. Therefore, God's people should serve: In the Strength of His Power and Authority (1-2) Directed by His Sending (2,6) Relying on His Provision (3-4) Prepared for Rejection (5)

    Luke 8:40-56

    In Luke 8:40-56, we see how Jesus brings hope, healing, and restoration to humanity's most desperate and seemingly hopeless situations. The message examines the intersecting stories of Jairus, a father whose twelve-year-old daughter is dying, and an isolated woman suffering from a chronic illness for twelve years. Through the woman's immediate healing upon touching His garment, Jesus demonstrates His sovereign healing power. Furthermore, by commanding Jairus' deceased daughter to arise, He reveals that even death itself is no hindrance to His resurrecting power. Ultimately, this passage reminds believers that because Jesus possesses complete authority over what makes life feel hopeless, we always have a reason to be filled with hope when we trust in Him.     Luke 8:26-39

    In Luke 8:26-39, Jesus engages a man possessed by many demons. They recognize him as the Son of the Most High God whose power is over them all. Jesus sets the man free from his bondage, restoring him to wholeness. The man responds with a desire to be with and listen to the one who rescued him. But the people of the region fear Jesus and want him to leave. Jesus does, but he leaves the man who was healed behind, that he might tell them the good news of all God had done for him. The Lord Jesus Christ has dominion over the evil spiritual realm and the hearts it enslaves. His power compels a response from us - either fear and rebellion or affection and service.  Jesus commands the evil spirits who destroy God’s image-bearers (26-33). Jesus heals the broken with compassion and wholeness (34-35). Jesus frightens the rebellious who have hard hearts (35-37). Jesus commissions the redeemed to proclaim his glory (38-39).

    Luke 8:22-25

    In Luke 8:22–25, Jesus leads His disciples directly into a violent storm on the Sea of Galilee, revealing that following Him does not guarantee an easy or comfortable path. As fear overwhelms the disciples, Jesus demonstrates His sovereign authority by calming the wind and waves with a simple command, displaying His divine power over creation itself. Through this moment, the disciples are confronted with both the greatness of Christ and the weakness of their own faith, as Jesus gently asks, “Where is your faith?” Even in seasons of hardship, suffering, and uncertainty, believers can rest in the assurance that Jesus is present, in control, and using every storm to deepen their trust in Him. The passage reminds us that God often leads His people through difficulty to reveal His glory and strengthen their confidence in Christ. Jesus often leads us into danger (22-23). Jesus displays his glory through his sovereign power (24). Jesus is worthy of our trust and confidence (25).

    Luke 8:16-21

    In a world filled with constant noise and distraction, Jesus calls His people to carefully consider how they listen to the word of God. Luke 8:16-21 shows us that careful, intentional listening to God’s word is essential for maturity in Christ, while indifference toward it leads to spiritual decline and self-deception.  How we hear God's word: Reveals the heart. (16-17) Impacts our spiritual growth. (18) Identifies to whom we belong. (19-21)

    Luke 8:1-15

    In Luke 8:1-15, Jesus continues on his mission with the help of many, to bring the good news of the Kingdom of God through various cities and villages. The crowds are large and he speaks to an agrarian society in parables to reveal the mysteries of the kingdom of God to some and to conceal it to others. Jesus reveals four types of heart conditions and teaches that the way a person responds to the gospel is based on the condition of their heart.  A call to follow Jesus and his mission is a lifelong call to service (1-3) Jesus spoke in parables to reveal and conceal (5-10) The condition of your heart determines your response to the gospel (11-15)

    Luke 7:36-50

    In Luke 7:36–50, two very different responses to Jesus reveal the condition of the human heart. A woman, known for her sin, approaches Jesus with humility and gratitude, while a Pharisee remains distant, confident in his own righteousness. Through a simple parable, Jesus shows that awareness of our spiritual debt increases our love for Him. The woman’s actions reflect a heart transformed by forgiveness, while the Pharisee’s posture exposes a lack of understanding about both his sin and Jesus’ mercy. The passage invites us to draw near to Christ with honesty and faith, trusting in the peace that comes from His forgiveness. We must know our sin. (36-40) We must know our Savior. (41-49)
