    Hearts of Addiction

“The Heart of Addiction” confronts addiction not merely as a behavioral issue, but as a deeply spiritual and heart-level problem. Using Proverbs 23:29–35, Scripture vividly portrays the destructive cycle of intoxication—anguish, confusion, loss of control, and denial—revealing the true cost of substance abuse and its grip on the soul. While the Bible speaks specifically of drunkenness, its warnings extend to all forms of illicit drug abuse and compulsive sin. The world defines addiction as compulsive use despite harmful consequences, often labeling it a disease. However, Scripture reframes the issue as something rooted in desire and the heart. James 1:13–15 explains that temptation does not come from God, but from our own desires, which entice us, lead to sinful actions, and ultimately produce death when left unchecked. Addiction, therefore, is not accidental or merely compulsive—it is often planned, chosen, and nurtured through unchecked desire. Rather than offering true healing, the world frequently provides excuses and focuses on outward behavior modification. God, by contrast, works from the inside out. True freedom does not come through external control alone but through inner transformation. The Greek word metamorphoo—from which we get metamorphosis—illustrates this change as a complete inward renewal, like a caterpillar becoming a butterfly. Hebrews 4:12 reminds us that God’s Word is living and powerful, able to penetrate the deepest parts of our being and expose the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Lasting victory over addiction begins when the heart is transformed by God’s truth.

    Breastplate of Righteousness

The “Breastplate of Righteousness” reminds believers that spiritual victory begins with guarding the heart through Christ-centered living. Pastor Owen Mason emphasizes that temptation is a real and ongoing battle, but Scripture assures us that we are “more than conquerors” through Jesus who loves us (Romans 8:37). Victory over temptation does not come from human strength, but from delighting in God’s Word and allowing it to shape our desires and identity (Jeremiah 15:16). Righteousness is not merely something we receive—it is something we live out daily. Ephesians 6:14 calls believers to put on the breastplate of righteousness, protecting the heart from the enemy’s accusations and schemes. This righteousness flows from abiding in Christ; when His words dwell in us, our prayers, actions, and lives align with God’s will (John 15:7). God Himself models this armor, wearing righteousness as a breastplate (Isaiah 59:17), showing its power and necessity in spiritual warfare. As followers of Christ, we leave behind a righteous legacy rooted not in our own efforts, but in God’s grace. Scripture makes clear that righteousness cannot be achieved through the law or good works alone (Romans 3:19–20). Instead, righteousness is a gift received by faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 3:21–26). Through Christ’s sacrifice, we are justified, redeemed, and made righteous before God (2 Corinthians 5:21). Living in this truth gives believers confidence in prayer, endurance in trials, and assurance that the Lord upholds the righteous (Psalm 37:17). Wearing the breastplate of righteousness allows us to stand firm, live faithfully, and reign in life through Christ.

Start Fresh in the Spirit Part 2

“Start Fresh in the Spirit – Part 2” calls believers to examine where their minds are set and how the Holy Spirit is actively working within them. Drawing from Romans 8, Pastor Owen emphasizes the contrast between living according to the flesh and living according to the Spirit. A mind focused on the flesh leads to death and separation from God, but a mind surrendered to the Spirit produces life, peace, and freedom. Believers are reminded that the Spirit of God dwells within them, empowering them to live transformed lives through Christ’s righteousness. Using Mark 2, the sermon highlights the authority of Jesus—not only to heal physically but to forgive sins. Just as Jesus perceived the hearts of the scribes, He still addresses internal battles today. True healing begins in the spirit, and faith requires intentional action, much like the friends who tore open the roof to bring the paralytic to Jesus. Pastor Owen challenges the church to ask, “What is the Holy Spirit doing in you?” Seeking first the Kingdom of God requires daily surrender and attentiveness to the Spirit’s leading. Transformation is not passive—it must be walked out through obedience and renewed thinking. The sermon also addresses the reality of spiritual warfare. While the battle is real, believers are assured that victory has already been won through Jesus Christ. Through faith, believers overcome the world and are equipped with spiritual gifts given by the same Spirit for the common good. The message concludes by encouraging believers to live boldly, walk in their Spirit-given identity, and actively implement what God is doing within them.

    Releasing the Chains

“Releasing the Chains” calls believers to examine the influences, habits, and compromises that quietly bind them and hinder spiritual freedom. Drawing from Proverbs 13:20 and 1 Corinthians 15:33, Guest Speaker Ithan Alvizo emphasized that who we walk with—and what we allow to shape us—matters deeply. God’s Word warns that unhealthy relationships and environments can erode wisdom, damage character, and lead us into patterns that cause harm not only to ourselves but to others. The sermon highlighted how temporary solutions often create long-term problems. What feels good, easy, or relieving in the moment can slowly become a chain that restricts joy and obedience. In contrast, Psalm 16:11 reminds us that true and lasting joy is found only in God’s presence, not in shortcuts or substitutes. Alvizo encouraged the church to follow God fully and trust Him to provide the rest. Using Moses’ insecurity in Exodus 4 and Paul’s inner struggle in Romans 7, the message acknowledged the real tension believers face between flesh and spirit. Freedom does not come from self-effort alone, but through surrender to Christ, renewed minds, and intentional obedience. Romans 12:2 and Colossians 3 call believers to shift their focus from earthly desires to eternal priorities, actively putting to death what leads to sin. Ultimately, the sermon reminded listeners that every ordinary day becomes extraordinary when lived in freedom and faith. Releasing chains allows believers to walk in wisdom, protect others from stumbling, and experience the transforming power of Jesus Christ.

    Start Fresh in the Spirit

“Start Fresh in the Spirit” calls believers to renew their walk with God by embracing the power, authority, and transformation made available through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Drawing from 2 Timothy 1:6–7, the message begins with a reminder that God has placed spiritual gifts within His people—not marked by fear, but by power, love, and self-control. A fresh start begins when we intentionally fan into flame what God has already deposited in us. Through Mark 2, the account of the paralyzed man lowered through the roof, we see that Jesus did more than perform miracles—He brought the Kingdom of God. Before healing the man’s body, Jesus forgave his sins, revealing His divine authority and showing that spiritual restoration always comes first. The kingdom Jesus brings is not merely external but transformational, confronting hearts, renewing minds, and producing lasting change. Scriptures from Acts 1, Mark 1, and Luke 13 emphasize that the Kingdom of God is present, active, and growing—like a mustard seed or leaven—quietly but powerfully transforming everything it touches. This kingdom reality continues today through the work of the Holy Spirit. In Romans 8:5, believers are challenged to evaluate their mindset: living according to the flesh or according to the Spirit. The Holy Spirit desires to reshape our thinking, actions, and outcomes so that our lives reflect heaven’s perspective rather than earthly limitations. Finally, the message asks a personal question: What will you see in your challenge? Like the scribes who saw offense or the friends who saw opportunity, our response reveals our faith. When we seek first the Kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33), we position ourselves for renewal, breakthrough, and a true fresh start in the Spirit.

    Christmas Eve Service

Christmas Eve reminds us that the birth of Jesus was not accidental, but purposeful, joyful, and worthy of celebration. John 3:16 reveals the heart of Christmas: God’s overwhelming love for the world, shown through the gift of His only Son so that all who believe may receive eternal life. Christmas begins with love and ends with hope. Luke 2 draws us into the night Christ was born—a quiet field, faithful shepherds, and a sudden explosion of heavenly glory. Fear gave way to joy as angels announced the greatest news the world would ever hear: a Savior had been born. The shepherds’ response models how we are to receive Christmas—believing the message, moving with urgency, and proclaiming what God has done. This season reminds us that every moment has God-given purpose. Ecclesiastes 3:1 teaches that Christmas is not just a date on the calendar but a divine season meant to awaken faith, renew hearts, and realign our lives with God’s plan. The birth of Jesus brought joy that changed the world forever. As Psalm 118:24 declares, this day—Christ’s coming—is a reason to rejoice. Christmas is great because it delivers the most costly gift ever given, a gift that lasts forever, and a gift we can live out daily through salvation and new life in Christ. Ultimately, Christmas is a celebration of good news: God loves you, God is with you, and God is for you. Like Mary, we are called to treasure these truths and carry them with us beyond Christmas Eve into every season of life.
