Cinematic Heartland: A Filmmaking Podcast

Interviews with people in the big time are everywhere. In depth short or Indie filmmakers interviewers are much harder to come by. We’d all love to make a film with a $3M budget and talk about how we got that helicopter shot at the top of the volcano but the more relatable story is how an indie filmmaker got an awesome shot in an unexpected location with no money and nothing but practical light. I’ve listened to quite a few Cinematic Heartland episodes where I didn’t know the filmmaker or their work but was interested in learning how they work. Good show with a good interviewer; i.e. someone who doesn’t force the conversation and instead lets the guest move the discussion. Love that it’s in Iowa.

Great podcast giving insight into the not so glamorous side of getting started in the film industry! Just waiting to hear more backstory on Kevin’s rock career though
