"On Mission w/ The Timothy Initiative

"On Mission w/ The Timothy Initiative

Every follower of Jesus Christ has been commanded to be On Mission. This year’s theme, On Mission: Until the Whole World Hears, is a call to action. It’s a call to pray, hear, learn about, and engage in what God is doing all around the globe through City United Church.

“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” Matthew 24:14

While a global pandemic may have changed the methods in which we do missions, the command has and will never change. We must continue to be On Mission and be obedient to the Lord’s command and fund local and global missions through the local church so that we can continue to reach all ethical groups for the Gospel, Until the Whole World Hears.

An example of what we will be doing this month is found in the first Church in the book of Acts.

“And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed. And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles. And there they abode long time with the disciples.” Acts 14:23, 27-28

During the month of August, we will be focusing on being On Mission in the following areas:

August 8 What is Missions? (Pastor Gary)
August 15 On Mission – Manna Worldwide (Missionary Craig Alsap)
August 22 On Mission in Africa – (Missionary Cherith Hunt)
August 29 On Mission – The Timothy Initiative (Missionary David Nelms)

    "Marvel at Life-Change: Bartimaeus"

God uses all types of people in marvelous ways. Not all the people God used were educated, sophisticated, wealthy, or powerful. But every single one of them was available for God to use. I like to call them the “League of the Least Likely.”

In this collection, we will look at a few ordinary people from the Bible who God decided to use in an extraordinary way. God took their lives and caused others to MARVEL at the results. Their lives changed the lives of others and serve as an example for us today.

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” —1 Peter 2:9
