There is no doubt that Claire Thompson is a leading light in the pharmaceutical world. She was good enough to take time out from running her business, Agility Health Tech, to have a chat about where she has been and what her plans for the future are. We discussed Claire's role as a leading woman in science, sexism and her Northern Irish heritage.



Claire has more than 15 years’ experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry spanning the large multi-nationals GlaxoSmithKline and Pfizer, virtual and Contract Research Organisations. Having taken a range of therapeutic products through clinical Phases 1 to 3, she thrives on translating innovative technologies into healthcare products and shaping technical and organisational strategies. Exceptional communication is key in everything she does. Whether it is writing investor communications, technical and regulatory reports, Trade Press articles or talking at international conferences, Claire’s focus is on conveying a message in an impactful manner to the target audience.



Claire holds a degree in Biochemistry from the University of St. Andrews and a PhD from the School of Pharmacy, University of Nottingham. Claire also holds Honorary Senior Lecturer positions with University of Birmingham and University College London. She is Chief Scientist of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences and plays a leading role in the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s professional recognition programme.
