Pick a Partner That Raises You Up
In this final episode of Season Two, Cali and Barb dig into the juicy topic of picking a partner that raises you up rather than brings you down. Regardless of the type of relationship you seek, it’s important to bring awareness to patterns you might be repeating and the types of people you’re manifesting. If you’re currently in a relationship, how do you usually feel after an interaction with your partner(s)? Do you feel supported, content, loved? Are you able to be your authentic self around your partner(s)? Cali and Barb speak thoughtfully about the nurturing nature of healthy relationships, as well as what to do if we think our partnership is becoming dysfunctional or toxic. Listen in as our fearless co-pilots once again share their experiences and wisdom.
Giving & Receiving Compliments
Moment of truth: Do you shrink a little bit when someone compliments you? Do you deflect and compliment them right back? Do you clam up and shutter from those seconds in the spotlight? We hear you. In this episode, Cali and Barb, with a little help from their friend Will (who also happens to be co-host on A Little Bit of Chill Podcast), address the challenges of giving and receiving compliments. They each share their own personal hurdles when it comes to giving and receiving compliments, and chat about ways to overcome them. Be sure to listen in so that the next time someone notices something awesome about you, you can be present, take it in, and simply say thank you.
Asking for Help
Fiercely independent. Does that describe you? If you’re out there nodding your head in agreement then this episode is particularly important. We all seem to celebrate this notion of being totally self-reliant, but asking for and receiving help when you need it is also worthy of praise. Cali and Barb share their personal stories of how they came to terms with how and when to ask for a little assistance. Let’s face it, sometimes the struggle is real, and when it is, it’s important to look to your community (whether online or in person), to get the help you need.
Stop Shoulding On Yourself
Be honest, are you “shoulding” yourself? Are you like many of us who spend way too much time telling ourselves what we should do rather than what we authentically want to do. We can get a case of the “shoulds” about everything, from minor choices— “I should wear this boring outfit over the one that I really love (heart emoji) because it’s more age-appropriate”—to major life decisions— “I really want to take a year off to travel but I should go right to work after college”. In this episode, Cali and Barb get into “shoulding” territory by helping us shift our mindset so we can recognize when we’re only doing something because we think it’s what’s expected of us. They help to decipher the difference between doing something out of obligation or out of a sense of service, and they lovingly help us remove the heavy judgement that always seems to accompany a “should”. Listen in and get some clarity on how to leave the “shoulds” behind, and find the beauty in making choices based on the present moment.
Frog In the Soup
In this episode, Cali and Barb introduce us to the metaphor of being a frog in a pot of hot soup. If we’re metaphorically thrown into a pot of boiling soup, we’re going to leap out of there immediately to protect ourselves. But if we start off in a broth that’s at a comfortable temperature and then is gradually brought to a boil, we might not realize that we’ve got to leap out of there until it’s way too hot. This has happened to all of us at some point in our lives. Maybe we were in a relationship that started out great, so we denied little hurts or some dysfunction until it became a toxic hot mess. Or maybe we began a job that seemed good and paid well, so we made excuses or back-burnered aspects that never felt quite right, until work became seriously stressful. So what do we do? How can we address simmering problems before we’re in a rolling boil? Listen in and find out!
Was your sugar detox crushed by the weight of your cravings for late night donuts (again!)? Instead of chastising your lack of willpower, treat yourself to an Accountability Buddy. If you’ve set a goal for yourself, having a safe, trustworthy partner who can serve as your very own nonjudgmental mirror can be unbelievably helpful. Cali and Barb dig into all the delicious details about these kinds of partnerships, and even challenge our preconceived notions about the different ways to put them to use… emotional support buddy anyone? Yes, please. Having a partner who’s ready to share a goal and celebrate its achievement can be the secret ingredient you’ve been lacking in your efforts to finally crush that elusive goal.
Receiving Wisdom Resets The Nervous System
independent of the topic at hand, the clarity and presence transmitted in the delivery of the content captures my mind just long enough to allow my nervous system to receive the transmission of love. The topics are transmitted in such a way to help dismantle our inner protector and manager so we can experience a peaceful quiet space of internal inquiry and self observation. A lovely reprieve from that unrelenting inner protector and manager in charge so often.
You know you’re lucky when…
When you actually know when you’ve found an amazing human. And in this case, two! I’m honored to know both Barb & Cali personally for many years. And the positive lifeforce that each have is multiplied exponentially when they collaborate. In just a few minutes of listening, you can absorb exactly what you need to keep your focus and energy dialed in to its maximum effectiveness. The Clarity Cafe podcast is the first thing I listen to when I see there is a new episode released.
I came across this and really enjoyed the info. Looking forward to listening back through the previous ones 😊
