Deciding on a movie to watch is tough. It's even tougher when your girlfriend is from another country and doesn't know about classic films of America. Join us weekly as Chris introduces Miriam to another classic movie, doing deep research into the films we love.
(Note: Not all films will be American, or classics). Original theme music by Nick Montalvo
Cult Classics with Chris - Halloween Special - Joe Augustyn
What better way to celebrate Halloween then to talk with the man who created a movie about a group of teens who break into a haunted house to throw one hell of a party? Joe incorporated real stories of possession and made the movie that pushed the terrified group of kids in a haunted house genre to the next level. We also talk about real stories of possession, his life long fascination with the occult and spirit world and his personal accounts of hauntings.
Ep. 22 - The Cell
Joining Chris this week is Wrestling with Pop Culture’s Jonathan Williams! Chris and Jonathan met while working and after chatting, found out that Jonathan hadn’t seen the 2000 J. Lo/Vince Vaughn sci-fi horror. The two talk about the strange connection to the date and when Chris texted Jonathan about the movie. Gather around while we discuss the making of the movie, where the visionary filmmaker came from and the possibility of a faithful sequel to this dark and beautiful film!
Cult Classics with Chris - Ep. 11 - David Chirchirillo (Bad Match)
David Chirchirillo created a big stir with his Brian DePalma-inspired spin on “Fatal Attraction” for the Tinder generation. I saw this movie a few years ago and it really stuck with me (I actually made an Instagram post about it immediately after watching it). David and I chat about where it all started for him, his first short film (which makes a cameo in “Bad Match”) and what the future holds for this rising name to know!
Ep. 21 - Heathers
Miriam is still very hard at work with her exams and this week we will have Baroque Bochenek of the “Movies on our Minds” podcast to discuss the cult 80’s teen dark comedy. Baroque had never heard of this film and it’s up to Chris to make sure he knows the difference between a Heather and a Veronica. Grab your copy of “Moby Dick” and crank up the Big Fun!
Cult Classics with Chris - Ep. 10 - Jason Lei Howden (Deathgasm)
Jason wrote and directed a great heavy metal demon movie several years ago that made a huge splash with the horror market. Mixing autobiographical details and classic demon possession films you get “Deathgasm!” We chat about growing up in small towns, horror movies and the upcoming sequel to the 2015 cult hit.
Ep. 20 - Killdozer!
Miriam will not be joining Chris this week, due to a very important test, but filling in will be Atlanta’s automotive horror expert (specializing in the “evil car” subgenera) Ryan Dambro. Although an expert, Dambro hasn’t come across this week’s gem till Chris brought it up. Dambro dives into what makes a good automotive horror movie, draws comparisons to the novella and the film version of this week’s movie and Chris does a deep exploration of all those involved in making this 1974 made-for-tv cult classic.

Chris is great
Good stuff man!
Chris knows his stuff
I’ve listened to a few of these podcasts to really get a feel for Chris’ input and reviews. He really does a great job doing his research and pulling out some of the lesser known facts of films. He has a real solid grasp of films due to his actual experience working on films to directing and writing films. Best qualified person to listen to
Chris is a true fan of film and all the aspects of the filmmaking process. He does real research and finds interesting facts and insights into the films he discusses. Also probably has the best laugh I’ve ever heard.
