Stones at the Akron Rubber Bowl - my first concert

The Stones’ Akron Rubber Bowl concert in 72 was my first concert. I was 15 and my parents had to drive my friends and me there ... I’m still not sure how I convinced them to let me go. We were sitting in the stands and I clearly remember seeing the confrontation between the police and some concert-goers down on the field early in the concert. I owned a copy of Sticky Fingers and was really looking forward to hearing the Stones play those songs, but I couldn’t figure out why Stevie Wonder was opening the concert. He turned out to be a revelation and I became a big fan and bought Talking Book when it came out later that year. It was the only concert I saw at the Rubber Bowl that summer but I still have my ticket stub! Eventually I saw many memorable rock concerts in Akron and Cleveland in the years to come (including the Stones again in Cleveland in 75).
