Sometimes religion can give us the impression that if we follow all of the rules that our faith group espouses, we can “fall down” on the things that God actually says are important. This “checklist” way of serving God can make us “pat ourselves on the back” and sadly elevate ourselves above others that have not “arrived” at our spiritual level. Little do we know that this type of arrogance also separates us from God.
