It is safe to say that I have wandered a bit. I served in the military, flew some jets, jumped out of most, climbed mountains (I jumped off of them too), taught fitness, owned a gym, and have spent the last few years speaking to organizations and leaders. It has been a journey, and in all honesty, I have no idea where it is going. I seek the things that make me uncomfortable. I move towards things that scare me. I think you should too

    Episode 251 - Travis Gribble

    Episode 251 - Travis Gribble

Travis Gribble retired in February of 2022 after 23 years in law enforcement. For half of his career, he worked in Michigan for a small Sheriff's Department, and then the other half was in Mesa, Arizona. Travis served in a SWAT capacity for a total of 16 years with 9 of those years being full-time SWAT in Mesa.

In 2016, after being on the Mesa full-time team and being an Assistant Team Leader, Travis made the decision to test for Sergeant.  The first step after the test finalization is what Mesa calls the "Step" program, a training program officers must complete before being officially promoted. In simple terms, it's really a ride-along with a senior Sergeant who shows you the ropes. The start of Travis's training began in January of 2016, working the day shift.  His very first call out of the station, on his very first training day, was the call that changed his life.

The next five years were hell and ultimately led to Travis seeking his retirement, after getting the help he needed.

    Episode 250 - Sara Wilkinson

    Episode 250 - Sara Wilkinson

Sara Wilkinson is a mother, small business owner, suicide prevention advocate, and the widow of Navy SEAL Chad Wilkinson.
SCPO Chad Wilkinson was born into the Navy. Both his uncle and father were SEALs (before his dad became a Marine One helicopter pilot). After a year at UCF, Chad enlisted in the Navy and successfully completed BUD/S. After three deployments with SEAL Team Eight, Chad left service for almost three years. He re-rejoined and was selected to screen for SEAL Team Six out of VA Beach. Chad served for 21 years, deploying to combat zones around the globe. Chad was on active duty in Virginia Beach when he died by suicide on October 29, 2018.
Sara talks very openly about the unique dynamics required to survive and thrive while married to an active duty Special Operations soldier, as well as the terrible toll that it can take on tier one operators. She talks through the “what ifs” and all the looking back she has done to see if there were signs of Chad’s unseen injuries which ultimately led to his death.
