According to Calvo, the roots of the genre stem heavily from Baltimore Club Music’s rich history. The buzzing producer mixes sounds that have influenced him from various genres into bouncy and infectious club anthems.
    Shannon spoke with the Baltimore native back in October about developing his sound, his love for video game music, and his most recent project with Night Slugs.

    Shannon and the Brooklyn native talk about her knack for finding rare gems, her epic DJ gig at The Oscars over the summer, and The New York Nightlife report that dropped in June, which proposes ways of keeping dancefloors safe as the city continues to grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic.

    Episode 44 of the Club Management podcast has arrived and this one is for the books! For this episode, Shannon chats with underground house music legend and producer Parris Mitchell about the history of Dance Mania and his iconic releases throughout the label’s history.

    Mitchell who has recorded under a number of different monikers from Victor Romeo, The Dance Kings, and the Parris Mitchell Project continuously adapted and shaped his prototypical sound throughout the label’s existence. From Hip House, Vocal House, and even his more stripped-down drum machine experiments, Mitchell kept fans peeled to the dance floor waiting for more.

    With the help of Ray Barney, Parris released a number of influential EPs like 1994’s Life In The Underground and 1995’s  Project.

    Shannon walks down memory lane with Mitchell about the early days of Dance Mania, going on tour with Club Nouveau and the inspiration behind some of his music iconic records.

    Hailing from the Bronx, NY, the DJ, and producer has been melting the decks with her heavy hybrid bass tracks. Anna does it all-- from spearheading her own label called Worst Behavior Records to curating some major bass nights across the states like her infamous Heavy nights in NYC. Anna is so important to the culture because she continues to carry the torch for women in the bass scene and create spaces where female bass DJ and producers can thrive.

    Now based in Hawaii, Anna chats with Shannon about her Jamaican and Japanese roots, the importance of creating your own opportunities, and how her passion for curating events has opened up a realm of opportunities to showcase new female and LGBTQ artists coming up in the scene.

Incredible! So much value!

I love this podcast!. It’s in my daily routine now . I lived abroad for several years and it brings back such great memories . The insight and info shared by Shannon is truly insider knowledge. I hope this show blows up so more people can see this world . First hand experience of developing the music scene in a foreign country is so interesting ! Also it’s really well produced and I have heard a lot of cool music I never heard of before . I hope you guys can share more of that music! Keep rolling !
