Welcome to the College Student Success Podcast.

This podcast is devoted to helping college students set goals that matter to them, and achieve them.

Whereas I find most podcasts are meant for ‘passive listening’ in that you, the listener, aren’t really expected to do anything but listen, this podcast will focus on empowering you to take an active role by setting a goal that you have a passion for achieving (it can be school-related, but doesn’t have to be), then try out the strategies I talk about that might help you get closer to achieving your goals, which in turn get you closer to your dreams.

I currently work in the Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Counseling Professions at Rutgers University as an instructor.

I’ve been trained over the years in several practices that will help guide this podcast. My background is in Psychiatric Rehabilitation, which is a process of assisting people with psych disabilities in achieving goals that are set by the person that will advance their recovery. It’s a very individualized approach that focuses on one’s strengths and treating the entire person.

I also spent time training counselors in a specific kind of rehabilitation called Supported Education, which focuses on providing students with mental health issues support, and helping them succeed in college.

For the three years of my career at Rutgers, I worked as a Cognitive Specialist, meeting with students that have issues like depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder and helping them learn strategies to improve their memory, attention, verbal learning, and problem-solving abilities.

This unique blending of Psych Rehab, Supported Education, and Cognitive Remediation form the foundation for this podcast in assisting students to set goals that tap into their passions; the goals that people dream of accomplishing, but often have trouble dedicating time to attending to.

I want to help students stay focused on the goals that matter, and give them tools to make those goals attainable.

Unique and helpful

I am a college admissions consultant and was looking for a podcast that addressed the very important issue of attending college with a disability. I found it. The topics and guests are varied as well.

Forward thinking stressed college student

This podcast is incredible. It offers practical tips for college that are more than the generic ideas you would find in every college survival guide. Sometimes it is hard to figure out where you want to go and what you want to be in life but this Podcast gives a good outlook on how you can help yourself achieve what is best for you.
