    Our Psalms Are Sing-Along Songs

As a band, more success usually means more touring, more promotion, and more questions. Those things usually affect you. It was no different for The Hold Steady, and you can hear it all over "Stay Positive."

Nice insight

Wonderful insight into the making of and period of Stay Positive. Great interviews by the band. May want to skip the review episode however, it doesn't really add substance. Beyond that, I think the take of 'Slapped Actress's is a bit short sighted, and misses the overall metaphor of the song. To think that Craig Finn wrote it in anyway that condones violence to women really fails to disect the actual meaning of the song.

Lifesaving Prophets of Positivity ♾➕

Many years ago, early on a spring morning, I listened to Separation Sunday, and it brought me to tears. I knew then that this would be my favorite band of my life.

Since then, I have seen these guys perform live more times than I can even recall, in a multitude of venues, mostly in Chicago. Without exaggeration, these guys, their words, their work, their performances- they saved my life by teaching me that indeed, “we are our only saviors.”

A must listen!

Required listening for every fan of The Hold Steady. I love when a band is willing to share their behind the scenes stories, even when the stories aren’t always positive.
