Video is an integral part of the marketing, sales and retention journey. When you add video into your marketing and sales, it's a more comprehensive way to Connect the Dots between your customer's problem and your solution - faster, easier and in a more engaging way.
Vicki O'Neill 25 year marketing and sales veteran is host of the Connect the Dots Video Marketing Podcast. Vicki launched this podcast in 2018 as a way for business leaders to learn on the go different marketing strategies they might consider using to enhance their marketing and make sales easier to influence.
Jump ahead to 2020 when Vicki noticed the video usage - from a consumer and business standpoint - was only increasing. That's when it's time to make changes.
In addition to the weekly podcast show, Vicki also launched a weekly YouTube show called The Marketing Stream, uploaded weekly YouTube videos. Since then, Vicki has launched a video presence on all social media channels and helps business leaders create videos, get more comfortable on camera, develop video strategies and edit videos so they are engaging and increase conversions.

What's the Difference Between Short Form Videos and Long Form Videos?
Sometimes we're just too close to what we do.
Sometimes we need someone else to bring to our attention when we're using jargon.
Sometimes that happens to me.
This was one of those sometimes.
I had someone recently say "What are talking about when you say short form vs long form?"
And it hit me: I've been using language that most people don't understand.
So today's the day to clarify that.
In this episode, I review the difference between short form videos and long form videos.
I also share why I disagree with Google. And I make up my own term.

3 Mistakes New Video Creators Make (and how to correct them!)
Being new to creating video is no different than being new to starting your own business.
Well, maybe it's a little different.
Creating videos with YOU as the brand - or face of the business - means being vulnerable. That's hard for most of us.
And when we're vulnerable and not sure what or how to create a video mistakes are bound to happen.
The good news is - each is easily correctable! Here are the 3 mistakes I often see new video creators make. Listen to the episode to learn how to correct each one.
They don't look at the camera - they look at their reflection. They are monotone. They create one, long, continuous video (especially the long form videos) Do any of these sound (or look) familiar to you? If you are making any of these - or know someone who is - listen to or share this episode.
Even if you're experienced, #3 will be a good listen.

Create SMART Goals for Your Video Strategy
A video strategy - whether you're just getting started with video or want to take your videos to the next level - requires planning.
"If you find yourself reacting, you haven't invested enough time in planning."
Planning starts with creating goals - SMART Goals.
Smart goals are: specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound.
In this episode of Connect the Dots, I walk through an example of a generic video goal vs. a specific video goal.
If you want to create videos with a purpose, listen to this episode.

Create Your Video Marketing Strategy for 2023
The biggest thing 59% of marketers say is missing from a higher ROI with their videos is a video strategy.
It's not surprising that video ROI is lackluster if no strategy is in place.
The key to any success - in business, sales or life - is having a plan or strategy that takes you from where you are to where you want to go.
The more detailed and more inclusive of all who are involved along the way encourages others to help you get to where you want to go.
A video marketing strategy isn't any different.
This week's podcast episode talks about the stats, what's needed, examples and next steps.

Strategic content for growing your business
Vicki does a great job to help listeners discover what dots they need to connect to boost their business. Each episode provides actionable marketing and sales advice. Good stuff.
Confused About Marketing? This is How to Find Clarity
Skip the endless ads or up-selling of other podcasts. If you want quick, actionable advice on how to market your business, take a listen.
I like how Vicki connects sales and marketing and never lets you forget how they work together. For me, as a small business owner, the two are joined at the hip. Advice from other experts can drill down so much on one they forget the value of the other.
Instead, I’d prefer advice from someone credible in both areas.
On a run or in the car, I’ll skip the music and take in a podcast like Vicki’s. I find it gives my mind a workout as well!
