Episode Three - Morrissey: The consummate whiner or the romantic poet?

Extreme Morrissey "Super Fan," Jose Maldonado (known all over the internet as The Mexican Morrissey), discusses his obsession with The Moz and defends the former Smiths frontman against the charges of intolerable pretension, tawdry melodrama, artistic stagnation and offensive political stances, all of which have been leveled by Morrissey "Hater" Andrew Novick, who, while in the 1980's brat-punk band Warlock Pinchers, penned the brutish and comedic song, “Morrissey Rides A Cockhorse”.

    Ep. 1: Is F'n SLAYER! a F'n FRAUD?

    Ep. 1: Is F'n SLAYER! a F'n FRAUD?

Are Slayer the most intense and sophisticated metal band of all time or are they an overrated novelty act that just won’t die?
In our pilot episode, Slayer super-fan Mike Meyer (the kid who carved "Slayer" into his arms and was thus immortalized in the artwork of Slayer's 1994, Divine Intervention record) and Slayer super-fan Craig Faretra argue the merits of these metal demigods against the Slayer-hater and co-founder of Metal Insider, Bram Teitelman. Jokes and fireworks ensue.

An Absolute Must!

Super fun and informative music debate with well-curated guests. Professionally produced, engaging and often hysterical...if you are a true music fan you likely have had countless similar passionate, booze-soaked discussions with friends at ungodly hours. This one is a total keeper and a gem for music lovers.

Convinced!

“Convince Me” is your late-night drunken music debates taken to a higher, more thoughtful level. For the kind of debate that could easily devolve into a meaningless yawn-fest of some dudes’ opinions, Convince Me maintains a compelling, intelligent round table of expert but heartfelt back-and-forth. Host and music obsessive SPECK shoots hardball questions at the guests, sparing neither side. They had the guy who carved SLAYER into his forearms and lit them on fire (for the album artwork) on as a fan! And the Mexican Morrissey up against a hater on the Moz episode. The PHISH episode is HIGHLY entertaining and there’s plenty to chew on in the RUSH episode. Binge-listen to all episodes if you need to catch up.

Yesss

This podcast rules. I love how they find the super fans. Dude who carved Slayer into his arm? Check. Mexican Morrissey? Check. It dances between being kind of intellectual and totally dumb, sometimes in the same sentence, while Speck the moderator tries to make sense of it all. Hard to top this in terms of podcasts that REALLY talk about music (which is really just like dancing about architecture as Lester Bangs would say...). The Morrissey episode really nails it.
