#62 You Have Reached Your Predestination

Back in August 2019, Barry and James finally bit the bullet and discussed predestination, as part of their ongoing project to please none of the people, all of the time.

Here are some key passages in the unlikely event that you're following along at home:
    Ephesians 1:3-12
    Romans 8:28-30
    Romans 9:10-24
    Ephesians 2:8-9
    John 6:44; John 6:65
Book: R C Sproul, What Is Predestination?
Article: John Piper, Watershed Differences Between Calvinists and Arminians

#83 The Episode THEY Don't Want You To Hear

Back in June 2020, in times of Covid, Cooper and Cary donned their tin foil hats and had words about Conspiracy Theories and whether Christians should know better, following an article in Dallas News by Ed Stetzer and Andrew MacDonald.
    Books we mention:
Voodoo Histories: How Conspiracy Theory Has Shaped Modern History Paperback – 6 May 2010 by David Aaronovitch

    #64 Hear Me Rohr

    #64 Hear Me Rohr

Back in 2019, people were raving about Richard Rohr's The Universal Christ. Or were they just raving? What was all the fuss about? Cooper and Cary had words about Rohr's words. They did not like those words.

Read Ian Paul's review of the book on the excellent Psephizo blog here.

Our theme music is by Roger Taylor and his latest album is The Rubicon Moment. Other music and jingles by Barry, who really should have better things to do with his time.

    #50 If It's Any Consolation...

We're still on summer hiatus. Thanks for bearing with. Here's a landmark episode from the archive you might not have heard. Back in March 2019, Barry and James 'celebrated' fifty episodes by apologising again, in true British form. But they also talk about what they would say to their twenty-year-old selves, and wonder whether their younger selves would have listened anyway. AND YOU CAN WATCH THIS EPISODE ON YOUTUBE!

But the Cooper & Cary Store is remains open. Buy things you don't need to maintain a podcast you're not sure about. It's literally all win. 🛍️ https://www.cooperandcary.com/store/

    #8 Answering Questions With Questions

Back in December 2017, before their regular theme tune and those daft jingles, Cooper and Cary were having words. In this episode, the words are about evangelism, asking questions, one of their favourite books - and is a faucet the same as a tap? And what on earth is a spigot? Oh, and stuff about Christian movies.

Philip Heard ,

Excellent!

I know Barry Cooper from his work on LUTHER: THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF THE GERMAN REFORMER, and Ligonier's SIMPLY PUT podcast- both are outstanding. This has been a great discovery. These guys have a slightly different cultural perspective as Brits, yet share convictions with me as Reformed Christians. The episode with Carl Trueman was very informative, and the British accents reached critical mass. This show is a great mix of fun & serious topic discussions.

Great Podcast

The host summed it up perfectly “come for the accents and stay for the theological insights”.

The podcast I didn’t know I was missing

What can I say? I enjoy the mix of theology, cultural observations, banter and book/movie recommendations. The humor, British accents and obvious friendship among the hosts makes listening extra enjoyable. The negative is that it makes me long for more frequent conversations with my own friends, preferably in person and over a cup of tea or coffee (which sadly, isn’t quite happening these days but it does give me something to look forward to).
