    Living and working in isolation

    Living and working in isolation

During much of 2020, people around the world have been staying home or in lockdown during the pandemic. As a result, many of us are living and working in isolation, which can have negative side effects. Paul and I talk about how this is compounded by living in rural areas. We get into how we’re dealing (or...not dealing) with this current reality.

Costs to factor into your freelancing rates

Costs to factor into your freelancing rates

As a freelancer, part of your job means being on phone calls with clients and potential leads, editing or making revisions, doing research, etc. All of that takes time, and time = money. No business has 100% margins, so these costs need to be factored into the rates you charge...and you need to know how to communicate the value of that additional work with your clients. In this episode, we talk about how to do that well.

Practical straightforward advise about the pros and cons of being a freelancer.

I have been listening to Paul for years and loved his old solo podcast. I always appreciated how he speaks his mind on a variety of topics with candor and spicy language. With Creative Class, the voice and viewpoint of Kaleigh is such delight especially as a woman freelancer. I love how they talk about things that are contrary to current popular thinking, like how we don’t have to be 100% passionate all the time or focussing an episode on our mental health. They aren’t a cheerleading section trying to make you into something you aren’t and I love that.

Actionable but not overwhelming

Always find myself making a quick note to adjust the way I’m doing something in my freelance business after pretty much every episode. Enjoyable to listen to & has actually made a difference in my freelance business operations.
