Credit Union Grants with Katrina Hayes-Peerman, Virginia State University FCU

Financial Minds: Meet the Experts
Jaime is back this week to talk about credit union grants with Katrina Hayes-Peerman from Virginia State University FCU. Katrina’s credit union recently received the Community Development Revolving Loan Fund (CDRLF): MDI Capacity Building Grant from the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). With this grant, the credit union intends to expand their field of membership by purchasing equipment such as laptops so that they can visit areas within their community and be able to sign individuals up for membership from those locations. The credit union also wants to use the funds to build a marketing team, become certified as a Community Development Financial Institution so that they can continue to apply for grants and develop a credit card program to offer to their credit union members. During this episode of the podcast, Jaime and Katrina chat about what prompted the credit union to apply for the grant and how they learned about it, as well as the grant application process and their advice to other credit unions applying for grants. Don’t miss this info-packed episode…you never know when a grant might be useful for your institution!
