Easy listen
Great show that’s easy to listen to and gives new details/angles to think of for some cases
Downward spiral
I used to love this podcast. I even subscribed at the top tier for years. No more. I can barely stand to listen to recent episodes. Ashley and Brit used to present cases with an awesome CJ twist, giving great overviews of complex cases. Ashley is a good story teller….when there’s an actual story (that someone else researched and put together) However, she’s terrible when it comes to actually piecing together a case. Lately, CJ episodes are pretty much about what Ashley is “spiraling” on this week. CJ used to be about true crime. Now it’s all about self-promotion and “platforms”. The most irritating thing is the absolute lack of research done on recent cases. Every time Brit asks a question, Ashley’s pat answer is “I wish I knew.” Someday Brit will be asking “what happened to our fan base?” and I suspect Ashley will be giving the same answer.
Constant favorite
I find myself constantly comparing new true crime podcasts back to crime junkie! They’ve set such a high bar!! Both Ashley and Britt are funny and their banter lightens the episodes from the dark topics they cover. Lately it’s been predominantly unsolved cases and I do miss the solved ones being more common, overall it’s a well rounded podcast and I’ve listened to all episodes multiple times over the years and am always excited for Mondays when new episodes release!
