#49 - Kyle Kirrin on Travis Baldree, Shadeslinger, and the Importance of Being Frank!

#49 - Kyle Kirrin on Travis Baldree, Shadeslinger, and the Importance of Being Frank!

    Hey hey everyone,

so this week we have a special, because Ripple System 5 is coming out in 3 days from now, and I AM SO STOKED, YOU GUYS! In honor of this release, I interviewed the one, the only, Kyle Kirrin!

We're talking about basically everything from his time using a chainsaw on a daily basis to how he enjoys life in the wilds more than in the city, but we also get some great writing advice and insights into how he came up with Frank and the way his books sustain their tension even though they're "just" VRMMORPG books. Oh and we gush about Travis Baldree a lot.

So basically, if you love Shadeslinger, this is the podcast for you!

P.S. We did have a bit of an audio issue throughout the podcast, which made it hard for me to edit this episode. So if the quality is a bit off, I'm sorry!

#48 - SYSTEMATIC DECONSTRUCTION! A Round table Discussion on how to build your FAVOURITE Systems!

    Hey hey everyone,

this week, I have another round table discussion for you. This time, it's all about the sweet, sweet systems that we know and love. Whether it's a hard-coded litRPG system or crunchy magic, Shirtaloon, RavensDagger, John Bierce and I got you covered.

Oh and yeah, we also oogle John's cats. A LOT. They're all adorable and not distracting at al, what are you talking about.

#47 - Noret Flood Didn't Think About His Readers At All

    Hey hey everyone,

this week, we interview the person I am convinced spawned the Chad meme, Noret Flood. Not only did he write one of the most beloved litRPG Series of all time, he also finished it, the madman, at 2470+ chapters. The Legend of Randidly Ghosthound is a book that every litRPG Enthusiast should have at least tried, a surprisingly nuanced take on the System Apocalypse genre, especially in the later books.

With that being said, we did laugh a lot, and I had to cut some jokes short because we would just end up giggling for a couple of minutes, but that's Noret for you. As always, I hope you enjoyed listening to the Pod as much as I loved recording it.

#46 - Jeff Hays' Manifesto for Quality, Fun and Feels, and also obviously Dungeon Crawler Carl.

    Hey hey everyone,

this week, we have the one, the only, the true master of sound quality, Jeff Hays. I know I say this every week, but this has been an absolute banger of a Podcast, with laugh-out-loud moments to more somber notes throughout the middle. We discuss not only litRPG, the literary market, and our desire for quality, but also corsets, BDSM, and creamer.

Well, that last part is more of a "Patreon Material" topic, if I'm being honest, but hey, you can subscribe to that, too 😛

There's more than 100 hours of extra interviews with some of the biggest names in Progression Fantasy waiting for you there!

#45 - A Parrot Card Reading with Plum Parrot, author of Victor of Tucson and Cyber Dreams!

    Hey hey everyone,

this week on the critRPG Podcast, we interview Plum Parrot, author of Victor of Tucson and Cyber Dreams! It was a great episode to record and edit, because not only did Plum have a lot to say in regards to writing, he also asked me a lot of questions about my own stuff! The result was a more conversational podcast than usual, which I was worried about at the time, but still think came out really valuable.

Let me know what you think, and as always, thanks for being here! 🙂

Great platform for readers and authors

I don’t rate many podcasts, but the rock-solid episode with John Bierce inspired me to dig deep and write a gneiss review. That episode had no faults, and it gave me an apatite for more. I even forwarded the episode to my father and my gran it was so marbellous.
