For today’s episode, we are honoured to be speaking with Haines Junction Mayor Diane Strand The Village of Haines Junction lies on the edge of a vast and spectacular wilderness and is a gateway to the Kluane National Park and Reserve. The Village of Haines Junction, commonly referred to as 'the Junction' by many of its 800+ residents, is situated at the intersection of the Haines and Alaska Highways. Residents call Haines Junction home for many reasons: from access to wilderness to the connection to land and ancestors, to being part of a community. For today's episode, we chat with Todd Bedore, Councillor for the City of Weyburn, Saskatchewan Over 10,500 residents call Weyburn their home. Weyburn’s main economic base is comprised of agricultural service and shipping, oilfield exploration, manufacturing and processing, and business and industry services. Weyburn’s rich soils have made for excellent grain farming in the area, helping make Weyburn the country’s highest volume inland grain handling centre. Well over half a million tons of grain pass through the Weyburn terminals each and every year.
