Outlook on IRA and energy policies post US elections

Outlook on IRA and energy policies post US elections

Baker McKenzie Partner José Antonio Morán joined Crossroads: The Infrastructure Podcast this week to discuss about the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), ESG issues and tax equity transactions.
Ahead of the US presidential elections in 2024, Morán speaks about whether there is any chance that the IRA could be repealed and about how the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is providing oversight on M&A deals in the power and renewables sectors.

“It would be very difficult to repeal IRA and there has been a lot of growth of renewables in red states so there are significant stakeholder interests in place,” Morán explains.
He said that the FERC has been asserting itself through its M&A oversight, providing a counterbalance to the explosive growth of the renewables market.
