Can BYU Still Live By Its Mission?

Can BYU Still Live By Its Mission?

BYU Professor Ralph Hancock On BYU's Dilemna
Dr. Hancock has been at BYU for over 30 years and has seen an increased focus on a secular objective.
Just how compatible is BYU's Mission Statement with becoming the "Harvard of the West?"
Why has BYU made this progression toward these academic, secular ideologies?
How does BYU move toward fulfilling its mission when they seem to be moving toward the establishment of higher education? Toward the "Religion of Academia?"
Those given stewardship of BYU talk of a "gospel methodology" on campus. What is a "gospel methodology?"

Does The LDS Church Support Same-Sex Marriage? - Respect For Marriage Act

Does The LDS Church Support Same-Sex Marriage? - Respect For Marriage Act

Navigating Same-Sex Marriage And Religious Freedom
The Church seems to have set a course conceding that same-sex marriage is here to stay in the United States. However, its support of the Respect of Marriage Act is not support for same-sex marriage. Rather, it is to protect religious freedom.
Senator Romney sides with the position of the Church on the bill believing that the provisions protecting religious freedom are sufficient. Senator Lee and most conservative organizations disagree.
Has the culture war already been lost? Have the changes over the last fifteen years created a mudslide that cannot be stopped? It may be time to think of the battle differently. Is it raining? Is it pouring? Should we be building an ark and inviting, persuading, all to enter before the waters rise?

The Book of Mormon Is NOT About the Nephites and Lamanites

The Book of Mormon Is NOT About the Nephites and Lamanites

The Philosophies of Men in the Book of Mormon and The Philosophies of Men Today
One way to look at the Book of Mormon is through the Nephite "Dissenters." This is where the political and theological divide is really exposed by Mormon. Virtually all of the Dissenters go to the Lamanites, who share certain values and doctrines with the Dissenters.
There seem to be three major divides:
    1) The Doctrine of Christ
    2) Liberty
    3) Critical Theory (Oppressor/Victim & Liberation)
We find the Philosophies of Men today within the conflict of these three divides.

Come Follow Me LDS - Ezekiel

    The Commonality of Visions
We compare the visions of Ezekiel, Lehi, John the Revelator, and Jesus.
By placing the Valley of Dry Bones in context with the previous chapter, we learn more about this vision. Also, the Stick of Judah and the Stick of Joseph are much richer than we might think and are also placed into context with the Valley of Dry Bones.

I’ve been listening to a few Come Follow Me podcasts for almost two years now, and just discovered Cwic perusing online videos.
•Greg’s insight is a welcome mind to other greats that enrich my study and understanding of how to boldly stand for Christ and Truth in this fallen & wicked world.

Cwic Media

The topics and content from Greg Matsen’s podcast is terrific. It is the rare combination of inspiration and intellectual stimulus. I listen to this podcast almost daily because it addresses so many current issues of the day. Yet, the podcast is firmly grounded in gospel truths. Thank you.
