    The Health-Tech Corridor is a public-private partnership in Cleveland supporting the high-tech and health-tech industries on the city's east side. Spanning from University Circle to Cleveland State’s campus, the area is full of companies and entrepreneurs with CWRU connections. In this podcast episode, we will explore the impact that CWRU alumni and students are having on Cleveland’s innovation neighborhood, as Bradford Crews, Senior Executive Director of The Alumni Association, sits down with alumni Michael Lalich (CWR ’08) and Khalid (Cal) Al-Dhubaib (CWR ’17), as well as former CWRU student Mark Lorkowski, to discuss their connections with CWRU and the Health-Tech Corridor.

    The 2016 CWRU Spotlight podcasts will finish the year with a special, three-part series featuring the six recipients of The 2016 Alumni Association Awards.

    In November, our podcast features legendary civil rights lawyer and Distinguished Alumni Award recipient Fred Gray, JD (LAW '54, HON '92), interviewed by Dean Michael Scharf of Case Western Reserve University's School of Law. Gray played significant roles in four landmark Supreme Court decisions and represented Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. A trustee emeritus of the university, Gray remains in full‐time practice at his law firm.

Rachitskaya​, MD​ (MED '08) - Young Alumni Award Nancy Fink ​(WRC '73) ​​​- Daniel T. Clancy Alumni Service Award Donald Foster​ (ADL '51) - Newton D. Snyder. Mandel took 74 years to complete his undergraduate degree from Case Western Reserve University— after pausing his education to serve in the U.S. Army during World War II and build a global enterprise with his brothers. An emeritus trustee of the university, Mandel’s lifelong passion for acquiring and sharing knowledge continues to inspire.

Our next guest, David Wexler (WRC '80) discusses how volunteering in this program has made an impact in his life and his children's life. Next, Robert Ontko (CWR '11) discusses his fondest memory of the program and why he became involved. Finally, Chamois Williams, the Assistant Director of Alumni Outreach and Affinity Programs at CWRU, discusses all of the volunteer opportunities available to students and alumni.

    July's podcast features CWRU alumni who are making their mark as entrepreneurs. Chris Wentz (CWR ‘13), CEO of Everykey, Inc., established his start-up while he was still a student. Gordon Daily (CWR ‘01, GRS ‘01, computer engineering), president and co-founder of BoxCast, is focused on changing the way we communicate through live HD streaming video. Toby Maloney (GRS ‘73, English), a current investor and advisor for BoxCast, is a longtime angel investor and advisor, best known for developing mental-floss from a dorm room idea to multi-million dollar media company. Additionally,  Jason Cellura (CWR ‘07), a former CWRU football player, is looking to score big in the athletic wear market as founder of AMMO Athletic. Tony Briggs (MGT ‘14) and Seamus Malley (MGT ‘11) utilize their skills and experience to take the varied companies they acquire or operate to the next level. Their portfolio includes Radiant Electric Heat, SolarFlo Corporation and Portage Notebooks.
