Dare To Soar will empower, encourage, and strengthen! Doctor R.C. will share some of the services and resources that promote educational success for the youth today. She has been employed as a Social Worker for over 20 years she will share with all who are tuned in valuable lessons that learned through her work experiences as to why the primary role of a School Social Worker should be to serve as a liaison/child advocate while collaborating and consulting with not only students, but
parents, school administrators, faculty, and the community. Doctor R.C. will address many of the issues that are faced in society today by our youth.
Dr. Terriyln C. Rivers-Cannon is a School Social Worker in the Atlanta area. She has devoted the last 17 years to improving the lives of Georgia’s school aged population. Her role is that of a child advocate, providing appropriate interventions and services that help an average of 2,500 children and families per year who are at risk for educational failure.
Terriyln received the Doctor of Educational Leadership degree from Argosy University, Sarasota, FL in 2007. She is a certified School Social Worker, Facilitator with the Council on Alcohol and Drugs for both STOP and SUPER Stop Programs, and Question Persuade Refer (QPR) Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Instructor for Suicide Prevention. Facilitator as a Darkness to Light Sexual Abuse Prevention Training from Stewards of Children, Certified in Mental Health First Aid Certified Mental Health First Aid, Suicide Prevention Trainer: Lifelines – Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide, and Trauma/Brain 201 – Building Resiliency.
Terriyln’s professional/national memberships are National Association of Social Workers (NASW), National Association of Social Worker- Georgia Chapter, National Association of Social Worker-Delegate Assembly, National School Social Workers Association of America, where she he has just recently been elected to the 2018 Endowment Board, School Social Work Association of Georgia (SSWAG) 2017 – 2019 State President, 2016 -2017 State Vice President, 2015 District President, and 2014 District Vice President. Nomination Committee Chair for SSWAG (School Social Work Association of Georgia). She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., National Association of Professional Women (NAPW), Strathmore World Wide Women of Excellence, and Women of Distinction.
