On point!

Thanks so much for this episode. It really hit home for me as this was my YTT experience at an affiliate studio! We were literally yelled at, I was truly scared of the leaders. And “the story” exercise at mine, they were looking for “I am not good enough, I am a looser, I made so many mistakes” etc….
I was going through my journal from YTT and you touched on many of the harmful practices I also experienced. And time integrity…I was literally locked out of the studio because I was a couple minutes late (my first YTT weekend) and had to wait outside until they were done with the morning meditation. It may sound stupid, but I was traumatized by this on many levels.
Grateful for your work 🙏

So much giggling

I really wanted to get into this podcast because I think it’s an extremely important topic that is not addressed nearly enough in yoga communities. And the logo/name? Genius. But I tried the first two episodes and it’s basically unlistenable. One person reading information they found online about a yoga scandal (no personal connection or whistleblower, just “research”) while the other constantly chimes in with a nervous giggle. Maybe the later episodes get better. But I sat through an hour of episode 2, the constantly referenced “anusaragate” had still not been explained, and my nerves were worn raw from the giggles. So annoying. I really hope it gets better with practice. Get to the point. Talk to people involved with these groups. Learn to control your nervous ticks. This subject matter is important.

Baptiste

I don’t think I’ve ever written a review on a podcast, but felt like I needed to now. I just listened to the newest episode on Baptiste yoga. I felt like it was very badly researched if researched at all, seems like the episode was only based on one conversation (don’t want to take anything from Mona’s experience though) and a lot of assumptions and judgement! If you’re not familiar with Baptiste Power Yoga I would not base my opinion on it from this episode, it does not reflect the methodology, the practice etc. At least my experience with it was and is completely different. On another note I also really didn’t like the tone of the hosts and how much they were laughing, it felt very judgmental.
