Every week we discuss the first page--and only the first page--of a different novel, ranging from cult oddities (Tarnsman of Gor) to literary classics (Paradise Lost) to influential thrillers (Jaws). Each episode focuses on that first page and uses it as a jumping off point for an idiosyncratic discussion of media and how we make stories make sense.

Customer Reviews
Excellent listening
I like the informal and informative takes on the first page. It reminds me of linguistics and the intricacies of speech and the written word. There is a lot packed in and the unpacking is compelling in itself. The hosts and their guests are seriously into what they’re doing but even more fun is the fun they obviously have doing it. Clever, witty, thoughtful and smart, a bunch of good-hearted nerds having a good time. A fun listen.
Vin ‘diesel’ and ben brrrap-brrrap are the cure for all your ills
If you got faults, defects or shortcomings you know
Like arthritis, rheumatism or migraines
Whatever part of your body it is, I want you to lay it on your radio
Let the vibes flow through, funk not only moves, it can remove, dig?

Even my dad likes it!
Well, I’m one of the hosts so maybe my dad is obligated to like it? But on the other hand, he did tell me I have to work on my delivery, so he’d probably rate this like a 4 or so.
