I read a book that suggested taking yourself on a date, once a week, solo for two hours. I was onboard with the idea ever since. Everyone needs their time. We are not just our jobs or our roles within our families. And having fun shouldn't be limited to vacations and nights out. Join me each week as I fill you in on the juicy details of my date.

The Dating Lena Podcast is for people that are fun! and also tired—specifically women—as we have the tendency to not carve out time for ourselves. In those moments where you don't want to think or respond to anyone, tune in here. Maybe it will give you an idea, or at the very least, a pick-me-up.

    My Retreat in Amorgos, Greece

    My Retreat in Amorgos, Greece

I'm back from my Greece immersion! We can call it a wellness retreat, spa camp or, relevant to the topic of this podcast—the ultimate solo date.
Going on this trip was a big deal for me. I was travelling by myself, internationally, meeting up with people I didn't know, on an island I've never been to for 10 days. My motivators were fun, relaxation, beauty and exploration.
The experience proved once again, that it's ok to say 'yes' to yourself...to do the thing that gives you excitement, rest or peace.
I haven't seen examples of women like me doing this. I see multi-millionaire women, who are mothers of young children carving out time for retreats. I'm not there. What I do see is women in my demographic feeling like they need a reason to say yes to rest, fun or their interests.
The word 'deservingness' feels big. You might attach arrogance to it or a whole bunch of other emotions.
In my conversations with women on this trip, I've realized there's a mindset that you have to be burnt out from work or your family...have a health scare or have gone through a traumatic experience to deserve an epic vacation, time to yourself, meals that make you feel good, or the time you need each day for your health. (physical, mental etc.) Often, we rally around the woman who is at a low, to give HER permission to take what she needs to get back on track.
What if we didn't let it get to that point? I'd love to see more women speaking up and receiving what they need (rest, adventure, support and so on). I don't see the downside to making yourself a priority. It's a form of prevention!
Be the role model you need to see and in doing so, you'll be one to others.

    Curious About Gua Sha?

Listen up all you teeth grinders, TMJ'ers and bite guard wearers! (I won't tell anyone)...
"Gua sha has been proven to help relieve tension in the face, reduce puffiness and inflammation, and it can even help reduce sinus pressure." Combine those benefits with a refreshed feeling and a dewy look, and that is what you get from a Gua Sha facial. It's now my favorite kind [of facial]!
