    • Performing Arts

David Sweeney and Margie share a lot in common.  David and Margie both come from Long Island.  They are both married [David, to his husband; Margie, to her wife.]  They both have sons.  And David manages Brandon Scott, who happens to be Margie’s fabulous student and who has also done this podcast.  David graduated NYU and moved to LA to be an agent trainee at the then powerhouse agency Triad Artists.  Triad was bought by William Morris and David became an assistant in the TV Talent department.  While there, his boss booked an unknown George Clooney on a pilot called ER.  David then worked at More-Medavoy management where another unknown actor David Schwimmer booked a pilot called Friends.  In addition to talent managing, David also focuses on producing and has several films and TV series in active development.  In this podcast, David shares his journey of becoming a manager and answers important questions like, What is a manager?  What does David look for in a client and how can you get in touch with him?  When should you leave your representation?  What does David look for in signing an actor?  David recounts his experiences with some of his actors like Brandon Scott and Amanda Schull and talks with pride about his “20 year club” of actors.  The podcast ends with his advice to all actors, whether brand new or working.
