On Daybreak Africa: Uganda’s president on Monday signed into law tough new anti-LGBTQ legislation supported by many in Ugandans but widely condemned by rights activists and others abroad. Just hours later, eleven activists petitioned the constitutional court seeking to block its implementation. Nigeria has a new president. Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, the former governor of Lagos state, and a chieftain of the governing All Progressives Congress, was sworn-in at Eagle Square in the capital, Abuja, on Monday.
