Dead Belt: True Tales of the Gasping Frontier is a space-folk horror anthology podcast of strange happenings on the fringe of settled space. Close encounters, weird happenings, narrow escapes, and lonesome deaths far beyond the stars we know. Drawing on old mariner's tales from the oceans of Earth, filk tradition, and the superstition and ghost stories of the American West, Dead Belt is written for those that know that when we push out among the darkness between the stars, sometimes it pushes right on back.

Dead Belt is inspired by the tabletop RPG of the same name by A Couple of Drakes.

Today we're going to talk about one of the stranger things about life out here on the raggedy edge, or at least gettin' out here to the raggedy edge. We're going to talk about Slipspace and the Angels that live there. It gets a little personal, so hopefully you'll indulge crusty ol' Chariot for gettin' on the soap box. Some things just gotta be said, y'understand.

Episode 6: Black Contract (Part 1)

Howdy Belters. Y'all been waiting on this one longer than I meant for you to. There's a thin line between building suspense and just--y'know--disappearing. Fair certain that I can't see it from here, and I apologize for it. Hopefully, the tale of Milo Grigg and his Black Contract are enough of an apology to make us square.

Voice Makes This Podcast

This is a wonderful podcast story teller! Please do some more of these. They remind me of Firefly, which I miss, and Event Horizon, one of the scariest movies ever mushed together.

As good as you’ll find anywhere!

I enjoy the game Dead Belt but you certainly don’t need to in order to enjoy this podcast. In terms of story, pacing and production value this rivals any of my other favorite podcasts (various SCP, Old Gods of Appalachia, etc.), and basically any audiobook I’ve got. If you like The Expanse, Firefly or any of the podcasts I mentioned then this is for you - it is evocative without being derivative and easy to imagine without being bland. It’ll be time well spent.

Cannot wait for more.

Space Matthew McConaughey reading spooky stories about people scrapping giant old spaceships at the edge of the universe. I immediately fell into the world. Went and bought the game and am spreading word about the prospects you too can pursue out in the deadbelt…

Cannot wait for more.
