Omg, I thought it was just me!

So throughout the entirety, I kept thinking, why does this sound so scripted? Is this a ‘true’ true crime story?? If it’s true, I’m sorry, but why so scripted? And if it’s fake, sorry again, but it’s not well written at all. Good story maybe? But I find myself repeatedly rolling my eyes and thinking, is this fake??

Brilliant!

I listened to the whole series in two days. Super interesting story; it was especially intriguing as someone who grew up in Idaho, not too far from Emmett. I thought the presentation was great, and the ending was so good!

Brilliant Mystery Podcast ~

Despite the fact that Dead of The Night clearly bills itself as a Drama, and not True Crime, several people who were quite obviously enjoying the program changed their ratings to One-Star, based solely on their own misapprehensions.

(Imagine if movie critics gave “Fargo” a 💣 because they thought that was based on an actual case - and the Coen Brothers actually lied at the film’s opening and said that it WAS based on “fact”, then explained why they lied about that in the commentary and the Making Of... short documentary.)

Ratings aside, Dead Of The Night is a fantastic spooky podcast, and I prefer to look at the positive, that the fact that so many people thought it was real bespeaks to the amazing acting, writing, and production that went into creating this amazing story, centered around solving the disappearance of a 23-yr. old nursing student, the winter of 2019. My one and only criticism is that I keep imagining it taking place in the 1990’s, not a year and a half ago - Just the mood of the piece I guess.
