Very interesting story
Found this a very interesting story, but I agree with the other reviewer that the recordings of interview subjects (not just archived material, but new interviews for the podcast) were of poor quality and not a consistent volume. I also thought that there was too much recap at the beginning of each episode, making the story somewhat repetitive. Not enough trust in the listener to keep track of the facts.
Interesting story, poor execution.
The story of the young man Jeff who is the victim is told with care and is really well researched. So the story is engaging and the sourcing is on point. I’m awarding a star for each of those aspects.
I’m not awarding any more because the sound quality is poor. Now I’ll say it’s not bad enough to turn it off, but it is really lacking.
When listening to it on my headphones at home I had to turn the volume up and down sometimes substantially due to the wild imbalance. While in the car I had to alter the bass and mid range significantly for the sound to be anywhere near listenable.
Several of the interview segments are basically inaudible and I have no idea what was being said. Based on the repetitious nature of the story telling I’m pretty sure I had heard it all, but I don’t know for certain.
Tried
I tried.. but couldn’t get past first episode.. no one reason in particular.. just didn’t work for me.. both narrators tone, the sound effects, and the fact that it just sounds far too much as if I’m being read a story.. as it is very obvious they are both just reading the story off a page. Unfortunately I found myself feeling far too much like I was in a year 7 English class with two of my classmates reading an very descriptive and badly written essay (even if the story is worthy of being told)
Really wanted to like it.. just couldn’t.
Maybe you’ll have better luck though
