Welcome to Dear 1995. Every week, host Gwen Bueno de Mesquita, alongside co-host Brooke who brings the brilliant insight, reads aloud totally unedited entries from her 1995 high-school diary.

The diary covers everything from your average teenage angst to a first kiss. Gwen and Brooke delve deep into the roots of the teenage mind and how it relates back to them now as parents and, empowered women who maybe question a few of those lunch time back seat blow jobs in 1996.

Dear 1995 is for teenagers and parents who can relate, Gen X and Yers who remember when Ross told Rachel she was his lobster and Millennials who think they remember, but actually just watched it for the first time on Netflix. It’s filled with references to favourite ‘90s essentials like mix tapes, beepers, getting film developed and 1990 throw-back tunes.

Please tune in weekly and join in for a cringe and a giggle (and maybe some zima) on DEAR 1995!

Painfully accurate for this former 90’s teen

Even though I grew up in Seattle, Gwen could have easily been me or one of my teenage girlfriends. Her tales of suburban woe are hilariously cringeworthy, and her obsession with boys and shopping and stressing about grades is a wonderful reminder how good we all had it before careers/partners/kids. Get out your chokers, baby doll dresses and Doc Marten’s and listen now!

I read about this podcast on Pinterest and was hooked immediately. I felt like I was sitting with my girlfriends reminiscing. Loved it and can’t wait for season 3!

Hooked on 1995

Love the reflections on where life takes us and the conversation with a 16 year old. Shout out to Brooke, who is both insightful and kind to “Little G’s” angst and often comedic teenage ridiculousness.

Nice work Gwen! Really enjoy the trip down 90’s memory lane.
