Literally Ignore Every Negative Review

Dear Prudence with Daniel Mallory Ortberg is great and anyone who says otherwise is usually exploding in the face of a single answer they found “crazy” or has no ability to sit and enjoy a conversation. Anyone who thinks a podcast should be mercilessly whittled down to the bare essentials is not a fan of podcasts, and I’m always mystified by the show they imagine could please them. Dear Prudence: Great. Entitled Listeners: Bad.

The podcast that helped me finally see a therapist

I am a huge fan of the Dear Prudence columns on Slate, but this podcast has elevated Prudie to the most culturally relevant advice column in the MeToo/Trump era. So many of these letters hit home for me as a young queer woman finding her way in our deeply sexist society.

Letters can be thought-provoking, deeply complicated, and Dani makes the world a better place by guiding letter writers through their predicaments.

The guests are varied, and always bring something to the table. I love the voice, tone, and feeling of safety I feel while listening. “Safe spaces” have become a cringey meme these days, but we all need one. Dear Prudence is my safe space.
