The 80's and 90's: We Lived It, Now We're Dragging You Back!

The DCP Appendix: I Pity The Ghoul!!

The DCP Appendix: I Pity The Ghoul!!

Jay and illy take the podcast back to its storytelling roots in this episode, as they reminisce about trick-or-treating through Jay's hometown, their best and worst costumes and of course, the candy haul!   They also take a moment to pay tribute to a close friend of the family and his home, which was their Halloween "Home Base" for many years.

    Cycle 1-1: Tooned In

    Cycle 1-1: Tooned In

Deathcakes re-establishes its presence in 2020 by going back to one of the pillars of its past: cartoons!   By the mid-90s though, Saturday morning blocks were all but gone, partly due to the inception of Turner Broadcasting's new cable offering known as Cartoon Network.  Jay and illy are back to guide you through their memory of its beginnings, to its eventual, indelible mark on American pop culture.

Intro Music: "The Breakfast Club" by Z-Trip (feat. Murs) / Background Music: "Old School" by DangerDoom / Outro Music: "Back To The Lab Again" by Prince Paul (feat. Wordsworth)

DCP x KOTF - Return To Shaolin Graffiti: The Hulu Version [Wu-Tang: An American Saga]

DCP x KOTF - Return To Shaolin Graffiti: The Hulu Version [Wu-Tang: An American Saga]

When Jay, illy and Ghost (then known as Rokmore, in a special guest spot) linked up in an early episode of Deathcakes to talk Wu-Tang, they had no idea at the time that the Keepers of the Funk podcast and the advent of No Jibba-Jabba FM were on the horizon.  They certainly didn't predict Wu-Tang: An American Saga to hit Hulu!  Now that all three scenarios have come to pass, the three hosts join up yet again in search of some Shaolin graffiti and to weigh in on the docu-drama (spoiler alert: they LOVE it!)

Outro Music: "Wu-Tang: 7th Chamber Pt. II"

    Episode 61 - 80's Ass Mall

With Stranger Things 3 having been available for months now (seriously, anyone who was gonna watch, has seen it!), the guys freely discuss the series.  This, of course, breaks the Deathcakes 80's-90's mandate... or does it??

Episode 60 - RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE! (AKA "The Sega Episode")

Summoned by Mr. T, their Spiritual Advisor, Jay and illy have been awakened from suspended animation to challenge the toughest competitors citywide, for the fate of the children.  And these are no ordinary children.  These are the kids who make up the Center, and must claim their rightful place in the world of recreational sports, if only Jay and illy can free the Center from bankruptcy... nah, wait..  that's the plot of Altered Beast, and "The Toughest Man In The World".  Scratch that.  The guys talk Sega Genesis, and before anyone says anything, this was actually recorded months before the announcement of the Genesis Mini console!
Intro Music: "90's Baby" by Freddie Cruger AKA Red Astaire (feat. Olivia Ruff) -- soundcloud.com/freddie-cruger / Outro Music: "Green Hill Zone" by Mister Wilson -- r3ddhood.bandcamp.com
