Democracy in Color with Steve Phillips

Steve Phillips—author of the New York Times bestselling book, Brown Is the New White: How the Demographic Revolution Has Created a New American Majority; New York Times contributing op-ed writer, and founder of Democracy in Color—is the host of the color-conscious political podcast, “Democracy in Color With Steve Phillips.” New episodes are released every two weeks on Thursdays. Join Steve for a conversation that is unafraid and unapologetic about grappling with some of today’s toughest topics in politics. As one of the nation’s top political thought leaders, Steve invites listeners to learn how the key to Democrats and the progressive ecosystem winning and saving our democracy lies in running towards, rather than away from, the societal flashpoints of racial and economic justice.
The voice of sanity
02/17/2022
Steve Philips, the host of the podcast, has a clear-eyed, dispassionate and historically grounded approach to politics and color. While other Americans who want to see enfranchisement and diversity preserved are running around with their hair on fire, Steve frames current events with information based on statistical trends, highlighting positive turning points for a diverse democracy. I had the good fortune to start listening before the 2020 elections, and as a consequence, divert funding support to Ossoff, Warnock, and Fair Fight, which captured a narrow majority in the Senate and made possible the passage of the covid rescue legislation. The backbone of civil rights progress rests upon leadership which moved forward when “unborn hope had died”. Steve’s view and show provide the same forward traction. I recommend Democracy in Color to all my informed and caring friends and family as a way forward through the narrative of political doom. As Steve closes his show “ Keep the faith”.
