Democrats Live is a weekly show hosted by DNC Chair Tom Perez and Dep. Chair Keith Ellison with the influencers and up-and-comers of the Democratic Party. We’re getting the word out on what Democrats are fighting for each week.
Resistance Summer with Ryan Doyle, Keaon Dousti, and Amy Kennedy
Keith sits down with Ryan Doyle, DNC Resistance Summer Director; Amy Kennedy, NH Democratic Party Executive Director; and Keaon Dousti, Ellison for Congress Organizing Director, to discuss the DNC’s Resistance Summer. The group also envisions how future grassroots organizing efforts for 2017, 2018, and beyond could be successful. With 8 seats flipped from red to blue this year alone, Democrats are ready now more than ever to mobilize every ZIP code into action.

As the Trump administration moves to end DACA, Chairman Tom Perez and Deputy Chair Keith Ellison discuss what the president’s decision means for thousands of families across the country. Tom and Keith are joined by Reps. Nanette Barragán and Pramila Jayapal to talk about the next steps in Congress and what Trump’s decision means for the American Dream. DREAMer Ellie Perez joins via Skype to share her story with Democrats Live. We also bring you highlights from FuturoFest, which we celebrated this week to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month.
"Why Unions Matter" with Lee Saunders & Keith Ellison
To celebrate Labor Day, Keith sat down with Lee Saunders, AFSCME President and labor movement leader. They discussed why unions matter today, just as brave public employees continue relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. DNC Chair Tom Perez makes a surprise appearance, and Lee shares touching anecdotes from his childhood.
"Charlottesville" with Rep. Tom Perriello, Rabbi Shira Stutman, Wes Gabor, and Keith Ellison
On a special edition of Democrats Live, Keith Ellison and guests reacted to the events in Charlottesville – how we can speak out against White Supremacy and work towards acceptance and inclusion for all Americans. Keith is joined by former Charlottesville Rep. Tom Perriello, Rabbi Shira Stutman of 6th and I Synagogue, and Wes Gobar, President of the UVA Black Student Alliance.
Also on this episode: how we can rise and organize together against hate and bigotry by joining events across the country this weekend.
Rep. Hakeem Jeffries On A Better Deal
NY Rep. Hakeem Jeffries sat down with Keith to discuss how Democrats are delivering real solutions for long-lasting economic growth and significant action to improve the lives of all Americans. Rep. Jeffries walked through the Democrats’ plan, including the most important piece – listening to all voices. Also dropping in via Skype was New Hampshire state Senator-elect Kevin Cavanaugh, who talked about organizing in local elections and the importance of all Democrats getting involved in their communities.
Sen. Tom Harkin And Keri Gray
In celebration of the 27th anniversary of the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), Tom brought on former Iowa Senator, and champion of the ADA, Tom Harkin. The Toms were also joined by disabilities rights activist Keri Gray. Front and center in the discussion is how the repeal of the Affordable Care Act would devastate the millions of Americans with disabilities who rely on Medicaid. Both Harkin and Gray told moving stories about how they came into the disabilities rights movement. And near the end of the show, Harkin proposed what might be the best advice yet on trying to fight for disability rights in the Trump era.
