Developing an elite mindset & the dreaded yips with Dr. Amanda Jane Napier Owens

The Functional Tennis Podcast

This week on the podcast, I meet Amanda Jane Napier Owens - a leading sports and performance psychologist.

In our conversation, we talk about how early we should introduce pressure into the training of tennis juniors, and how we go about doing this. I ask Amanda how to get players fired up before a big game and if this really improves performance.

Dr. Owens gives some really fascinating insight into why anger isn’t effective in tennis, and we also discuss the science behind yips - and how players can stop it from happening to them.

Hope you enjoy it,

Fabio
