Top notch collaborative storytelling

This is one of the best actual play podcasts. The GM and players use the mechanics seamlessly to constantly layer character and worldbuilding. I especially like the touch of characterbuilding interludes at the beginning of each episode. It’s also extremely successful as audio storytelling: either the players are unusually immersed or this is exceptionally edited, because there’s very little out of character decision making—something that really bogs down most roleplaying podcasts, especially in combat. I never have the urge to skip through combat scenes in this podcast, which I can’t say for my other favorites like NADPOD or the Adventure Zone or Friends at the Table. If you like those podcasts you should definitely try this one!

Group story telling at its best!!

If you’ve ever wondered what role playing games are, this is it. It’s group story telling, and this podcast is the perfect example. LISTEN TO IT! The way Ross narrates the story, the the players play their characters, and the production quality really makes it. There is a ton of story and role play while letting the dice influence some events without letting the mechanics get in the way. This is binge worthy. LISTEN TO IT! I’m telling everyone one I know who play RPGs they need to listen to this. It’s great for both the GM and the player.
THANK YOU D4B!!!

Literally My Favorite Podcast

I listen to about 20 podcasts on a rotating basis and I can safely say that Dice For Brains is without competition, my favorite. It gets better with time going from really good to great to BREATHTAKINGLY GREAT. Ross describes scenes quickly enough to keep the story going, but vividly enough to stick in my mind for weeks afterwards. The rotating cast gives us characters who run the gambit from interesting to downright fascinating. The best compliment I can give it however is that it is the only podcast to ever change my behavior. When I recently started up a campaign, instead of using my normal Pathfinder or D&D systems, I used Genesys (fantasy Edge of the Empire) and I made sure to include a new player (which I never do). Listen to it! You will not be disappointed!
