YoYo Dissco — The Latest Funky Disco House Music and Updates!

After a very long wait, Party Favorz is finally back in business with a brand-spanking new booty-slapping Funky Disco House episode to properly kick off our grand reopening.

“YoYo Dissco” features all the latest Funky House, Disco House, and House Music songs that have been buzzing in our ears for the past couple of months. If you’re a fan of this series (and it seems a lot of you are, judging by the numbers over the past year), everything will sound familiar with a fresh sense of newness throughout the mix.

This set kicks off with some Gospel Disco by the always fabulous Barbara Tucker, who we haven’t heard from in a while and delivers a hopeful track for these trying times. From there, you’ll journey through the dance floor with an endless array of roof-raisers, funky throwbacks, and mashups of perennial favorites, creating entirely new songs.

Navigating Through Time: A Reflection on Party Favorz’s Journey and Musical Milestones

Party Favorz is now in its 17th year, and it’s remarkable to think we’ve been around for four presidencies, witnessing massive changes in technology and entertainment consumption. We were leading the charge in this arena before podcasts became ubiquitous, and while many have fallen by the wayside, we’re still here delivering the dancefloor directly to you.

Towards the end of this mix, you’ll notice a song called “The Cure & The Cause” by Fish Go Deep and Tracey K. Idris Elba took the song in a very 90s straight House Music direction. At the time of its original release, it was all about the DJ Meme remix, which added live strings in the vein of the Solsoul Records era. It was a massive hit back in 2007, the same year Party Favorz was born on the internet. It’s interesting to note that it was also released during a presidential year, similar to the current time. While nothing will ever top the DJ Meme remix, this new rendition brought back a lot of fond memories from our early days. You can find the DJ Meme remix on our Funky House Edition 2007 v6 and on Volume 1 of our DJ Meme tribute mix.

Technical Updates and Enhancements: Improving Your Listening Experience

I’ve been struggling to get the categories to work on the streaming feeds for several days, but then it came to me in a dream last night. That’s been the delay in getting the new design out, and I haven’t fully tested it yet, but hopefully, it will work out. If not, I’m waiting on a quote from a developer to assist, along with fixing the link in the site’s header. No need to inform me; I’m aware of it and will get it fixed as soon as possible.

Feel free to reach out if you find any other errors, such as wrong artwork, incorrect episodes in a player, or partial episode uploads. I’m not sure what happened with the last one, but I did find a few issues.

Additionally, I’ve upgraded the software I use to level all music to prevent unexpected volume spikes, but this was a significant upgrade. It now offers different presets, and I chose the “boost” preset for this mix. It required me to change my mixing style, which I mastered on the fly with this set (everything was done in one take). I’m not used to seeing something so heavily compressed, but it sounded fine to me in different environments. Let me know if you prefer it the way it was, and I’ll take note for future sets.

Funky House Music Ahead: Don’t Walk, Dance!

No matter the weather, Party Favorz is set to elevate your mood and add a spark to your weekend with our latest Funky House music mix. “Don’t Walk, Dance!” is one of those sets that’s created in one sitting which packs an extraordinary punch and delivers pure magic right to your ears.

We start with a bang, featuring the iconic 90s House music sensation, Adeva. Collaborating with Soul Seekerz, bringing us “Musical Freedom”, a track that echoes persistence and hope, while doing the Candi Staton original proud. It’s a powerful opener that sets the tone for what’s to come.

A Funky House Journey Through Musical Masterpieces

Transitioning smoothly, we dive into “Your Heaven” by Mother of Pearl featuring Pearl Mae, a track that epitomizes the uplifting spirit of Funky House. This is quickly followed by Mike Newman’s “Things I Do“, which intriguingly blends a Robin S-like sound with lyrics from the Commodores’ 1977 hit “Easy”, creating an uplifting vibe.

In a seamless transition, we experience Word of Mouth UK’s creative mashup of Aretha Franklin’s “A Deeper Love (Pride)” with Paul Johnson’s “Get Get Down”. This fusion not only honors the classics but also reinvigorates them for today’s dance floors.

Iconic Samples and Versatility in Funky House

Illyus and Barrientos, known for their versatility, team up with Phebe Edwards on “Wait“, a track that’s pure gold. Mark Knight, another master at his craft, takes us into the realm of big room House with “The Greatest Thing Alive“, a collaboration with Green Velvet and James Hurr. This deep House track is sure to have dance floors moving in unison.

No Party Favorz mix is complete without a nod to the legendary Loleatta Holloway. DJ Oji’s “The Good Ol Dayz” brilliantly incorporates Holloway’s “Love Sensation”, showcasing her unforgettable voice in a new light.

    A Disco-Infused Funky House Extravaganza

The set also features an array of Disco House tracks. We revisit classics like “Saturday Night” by Duwayne Motley, “Move On Up” by Block & Crown, and a fresh take on Chic’s “Want Your Love” by Gary Tuohy, which keeps Nile Rogers’ iconic guitar work intact.

Our journey concludes with Jason Walker, a talent whose voice and style remind us of Simply Red’s Mick Hucknall. His track “Joy”, produced by Georgie Porgie, is the perfect finale to our three-hour musical odyssey.

Remixed Songs From the 80s: Fall Throwback 2023 Volume 2

Remixed Songs From the 80s: Fall Throwback 2023 Volume 2

Party Favorz is hitting the airwaves again with Volume 2 of our Fall Throwback series, loaded with remixed songs from the 80s. Sure, we’ve sprinkled in a few gems from the late 70s, but the spotlight is mainly on the 80s. Let’s jump into it.

Opening with a Bang: “Driver’s Seat”

Kicking off the set is “Driver’s Seat,” a 1979 classic from Sniff ‘n’ the Tears. Block & Crown bring it to 2021 with their House remix. It’s a tune that has graced numerous commercials and TV shows. Although it peaked at only #15 on the U.S. charts, many of this remember this earworm fondly.

    Unexpected Remixes: “Sultans of Swing”

One delightful surprise here is Block & Crown’s fresh take on Dire Straits’ 1979 mega-hit “Sultans of Swing.” They titled their version “Swingin Sultan,” and it’s a beauty. This remix stays loyal to the original while adding a modern twist, making it a perfect throwback.

    Rock Classics Reimagined

Speaking of rock, we’ve got more. The Knack’s 1979 hit “My Sharona” gets a Funky House twist, thanks to Grooveband and Ghostmasters. Block & Crown also rework Ram Jam’s rock staple “Black Betty,” ensuring that these remixed songs from the 80s and late 70s keep the dance floor buzzing.

Disco Gurls on Tina Turner’s “The Best”

Disco Gurls dazzle us with their modernization of Tina Turner’s anthem “The Best.” Titled “U’re Simply The Best,” it preserves the original’s spirit while injecting it with a new groove. If only this had been available for our Tina Tribute set.

A Smorgasbord of Modern Takes on 80s Classics

For those craving more, we’ve got a plethora of modern remixes your 80s-loving heart will adore. From “Should I Stay or Should I Go” by The Clash to “Hungry Eyes” by Eric Carmen, we’ve covered it all. Others like “One Night in Bangkok” by Murray Head and “Your Love” by The Outfield get their much-deserved spotlight.

    Authenticity Matters

Although about half of these tracks feature the original vocals, the rest utilize talented soundalike artists. But don’t let that sway you! These remixed songs from the 80s and a few from the late 70s offer a fresh, nostalgic journey worth taking. A couple of mashups even make an appearance, adding extra flavor.

    What’s Next?

Whether you grew up in this era or are a fan looking to discover these classics, this throwback set is a treasure. Stay tuned for our Fall Edition 2023, which will be dropping soon, along with new episodes of Peak Hour and Club Fusion.

    Until the next time…ENJOY!

Fall Throwback 2023 Volume 1: Modernized Songs From the 80s, 90s and 00s For the Dancefloor

Fall Throwback 2023 Volume 1: Modernized Songs From the 80s, 90s and 00s For the Dancefloor

We’re amped to announce that Party Favorz is rolling out not one, but two volumes of our Throwback series. This isn’t your usual fare. We’re talking about songs that evoke nostalgia, remixed by familiar names like Block & Crown and GhostMasters. Interestingly, these creators are mixing it up—literally. They’re giving a fresh beat to songs that you probably never thought would belong in the Dance, Disco, or House categories.

In fact, our buddy DJ Freddy Greene started paving this route a while back. Remember his Disco and ’80s Dance edits? He was all about those DJ-friendly versions. However, he also began adding beats to pop songs, and I must admit, it left me a bit puzzled.

Hits and Misses: A Mixed Bag of Remixes

Now that others are jumping on this trend, the results are, let’s say, a mixed bag. Take Heart’s iconic Rock ballad “Alone.” Now picture it with a House beat. Sounds odd? That’s because it is, and even we’re curious to see how you’ll react to these new mixes.

You’ll notice the first volume spreads its influences across several decades but leans heavily towards the ’80s. Volume 2? It’s almost exclusively an ’80s fiesta, with a sprinkling of late-’70s tracks to keep you guessing. There are definitely some throwback songs that will not only surprise you but knock you off your feet.

Keeping Up With the Prolific Output of Dance Edits

Just try to keep pace; these artists are pushing out songs faster than you can say “remix.” All the selections in these volumes have been amassed since our Summer Throwback in June. There’s enough material for a third volume, but we’re saving those gems for a spring release

If these revamped classics tickle your fancy, head over to Beatport and look under their Funky House category. You’ll find a plethora of these tracks, and other DJs entering this realm. Spotify and Apple Music are also good platforms to follow these artists. Trust us, the tracks we’re showcasing barely scratch the surface of what these DJs offer. Here are their Spotify and Apple Music pages:

Measuring Success of this Throwback and What Lies Ahead

We’ll be keeping a close eye on the success of these latest Throwback offerings. Their performance will shape the future of further releases in this niche. Our first two original volumes were big hits, and we’re hopeful these will follow suit. But only time will tell.

And don’t forget, Party Favorz thrives on your support. If you’re digging what we’re putting together, think about making a donation today. Your contributions help us keep the dance floor alive.

Fall Funky House Music Mix — Good Life

Fall Funky House Music Mix — Good Life

Party Favorz is back, and we’re not just tiptoeing in, we’re diving headfirst into the freshest Funky House Music that’s electrifying dance floors as we speak! To kick things off, we’re easing you into the groove with Birdee & Dr Packer’s sultry number, “You Know I’m Ready.” But wait, we’re only warming up here.

Ah, nostalgia, that sweet elixir! We’ve decided to bring back “Good Life” by Inner City—a timeless classic from 1989 that’s still making waves in the House Music scene. It’s almost like this golden oldie was destined to coexist with today’s sonic landscape. So we took the origina, punched it up, and slid it right into the set. Isn’t it fascinating how some anthems never lose their charm? They seamlessly meld into the fabric of contemporary Funky House Music.

Just when you think you can catch your breath, we’re turning up the heat. Cue the high-octane “Move That Body” by dance music legends Danny Tenaglia & Cevin Fisher. This thumping track signals a gear shift into the Big Room House realm. But don’t get too comfy—some of these bangers wear the Tech House tag, a genre that’s veering more toward the euphoric, peak-hour vibes we cherished in the ’90s, yet it’s unmistakably rooted in modern House Music.

Speaking of which, let’s talk about “Jealous” by Mochakk, a track that revives the iconic monologue from Loleatta Holloway’s #1 Disco hit “Dreamin‘.” Holloway’s legendary adlibs breathe life into this contemporary banger, making it an instant classic. Trust us, it’s pure gold!

And oh, have you heard “I Wanna Be Your Lover” by Mark Knight, Sgt Slick & Beverley Knight? It’s an audacious take on Prince’s 1980 hit, a song that they’ve rejuvenated while paying the ultimate homage. Beverley Knight’s vocal finesse is just the icing on this groovy cake.

Then we have Purple Disco Machine putting his unique spin on the 2001 Eurodance gem, “King of My Castle” by Wamdue Project. Trust him to take something already great and elevate it, wrapping it in his signature Funky House Music vibes while preserving the essence of the original. It’s not just a remix; it’s a transformation.

But that’s not all. Wedged between these standout tracks are other gems that are bound to make your Labor Day weekend an absolute sonic feast. Whether you’re a Funky House Music aficionado or just dipping your toes in, this set promises something for everyone.
