Radical self-care for creative business owners

Radical self-care for creative business owners

If there’s a lesson I’ve had to learn over and over again in my business it’s this: take damn good care of the vessel through which your work comes to life.

And that vessel? It’s us. I see my clients really start to soar in their journey when they prioritise taking care of themselves in whatever way they want and need to in the season they’re in.

And the thing I’ve found is that the rest and self-care that we need can often feel quite radical, indulgent even.

In this episode I share with you some of the ways you can embrace radical self care in your own business journey, in the hope that it can crack wide open even more momentum, focus, ease, and joy for you in your creative work and life.

A ‘let’s see what’s possible’ approach to business

A ‘let’s see what’s possible’ approach to business

I talk a lot with my clients about navigating and setting expectations in our business journey. I’ve found that the gap between expectations and reality can be a crushing one to navigate at times. It can be frustrating and disheartening to not reach our goals, and then we can start to believe the lie that we’re falling behind and failing when in reality we’re just still making our way there.

This is why I love to embrace a ‘let’s see what’s possible’ approach to business, as I’ve found that it can help us to navigate this journey with more focus, optimism, and momentum along the way.

In this episode I explore why and how to embrace this mindset in our work, in the hope that it can support you to stay open to what’s possible and do the work that actually makes it possible too.

    Uncertainty isn't the enemy

    Uncertainty isn't the enemy

It’s easy to believe the myth that all you need to build and run a successful business is a solid business plan and the purposeful strategy to bring it to life.

And those things are essential, but there’s another piece of this puzzle that is essential too: learning how to navigate uncertainty.

In this episode I explore the ways that we can navigate uncertainty in our business with more intention and courage, and how to expand our capacity for uncertainty so that we can show up and run the business and be the business owner that we want to be. Because when we are better able to navigate uncertainty, we’re then more capable of taking intentional, brave, and truly effective action in our business.

Hands up if you’ve ever experienced business burnout? Yeah, I’m right there with you.

But are you actually putting your lights on?

But are you actually putting your lights on?

If you’re anything like my clients you want to build a joyful, impactful, and financially sustainable business while marketing yourself in a way that feels human, gentle, and effective too.

But there’s a trap that I find those of us who are running slow, gentle, human-centered businesses can fall into if we’re not careful.

We can take our gentle approach to marketing a little too far and fail to ever actually market our business out of fear of being pushy and salesy and manipulative.

So in this episode I’m diving deeper into the importance of consistently putting our lights on in our business, and how to do so in a way that feels intentional, human, and joyful too.

The box that you want to play in

The box that you want to play in

This is one of my favourite exercises to dive into with my clients: exploring what the box is that they want to be playing in in their business.

This episode is for you if you’re itching to feel a little more grounded in your business, whether you’re building it from scratch, pivoting the one you’ve already built, or wanting to find more intention, focus, and joy in the one you’re already working with.

In this episode I’m going to walk you through this process and hold some space for you to explore what the box is that you want to play in, in the hopes that it gives you a foundation to come back to whenever you need it in your business journey.
