Merry Christmas, again! For the second week in a row, we've got a very special holiday episode. This time, it's the series 2 Christmas special, "The Christmas Invasion"! It's the first Tenth Doctor episode, and he's got a lot to learn about himself, once he's done snoozing. Meanwhile, Earth is being attacked by mostly-irrelevant Santabots and mainly the Sycorax. How will Harriet Jones get us out of this one? She's the prime minister, by the way!

We had a great time last week, so the RNG decided to pull us back into the Annoying Era with the series 7 Christmas special, "The Snowmen"! Last time we saw Clara, we felt like she was an annoying fanfic character cut out and pasted into the real show Doctor Who. How will we feel now that we're meeting her properly in her first episode? Well... turns out we're very insightful and never wrong about anything!

The RNG decided (correctly) that we needed a break from the Chibnall Era, so we got as far away as we possibly could and watched S1E1, "Rose"! This week, we're joined by friend of the show Grant AKA Ironicus who comes to us with the research this show deserves. We're digging deep into prose, or a book as some might call it, and learning how Funny Rusty himself feels about his first episode of Doctor Who. If you ask us, he should feel pretty good about it... except for that pesky coffee table! What were they thinking?!

We're stepping out of the Backpack Era - no matter what Jordan says - and into the Episode Directly Before Legend of the Sea Devils Era with the first 2022 special, "Eve of the Daleks"! It's a refreshing reminder that Chris Chibnall really can make a great Doctor Who episode. Maybe there's joy to be found in very very recent Doctor Who after all! Watch this episode a few times and you'll agree.

Another week in the Backpack Era! We're watching S12E6, "Praxeus", an episode about a killer virus that had the misfortune of coming out right at the start of the pandemic. The team have split up to investigate several exciting locales, some of which are even interesting! Also, there are Unusual Energy Patterns in Hong Kong. What a nice change of pace!

One of the joys of this format is that every once in a while, the show throws a curveball at us that sounds like a fun time and ends up being a real brainburner. Such is the case with series 8 episode 3, "Robot of Sherwood". On the Doctor Who political compass, this episode is resting comfortably in the square labeled "stupid" and "bad". The characters are across-the-board annoying this week, and the story is totally incoherent. At least it's a fun disaster!
