Dealing with Dog Mom Comparison and Judgement Dog Mom Mentality

    • Pets & Animals

This week we are talking to Rachael from @chesapeake_thefluffycorgi / @chessy_thefluffycorgi! Rachael and her Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Chesapeake (AKA Chessy), live in the suburbs of Philadelphia and are very active in training and dog sports. Rachael thought she was set up for success when getting Chessy - she went through a reputable breeder, had lots of friends who had trained dogs, was already active in the dog IG world, and had done a lot of research. However, even though she had this idea in her head of what it would be like to bring a puppy home and had a support system, she realized it was nothing like what she thought it would be after her and her fiancé brough Chessy home. The decisions they made with Chessy's training, specifically doing a board and train at a younger age, had some negative side effects on the friend group she had made and she quickly saw how easy comparison can creep in.
