Don't Give Up Yet

Some of the hardest prayers to pray are the ones we've prayed a hundred times before. In Luke 18, Jesus tells the story of a persistent widow, not because God is reluctant to answer, but because He wants His people to keep praying and never lose heart. The point of the parable is not that God must be worn down by our persistence. It is that our loving Father is nothing like the unjust judge. He delights in showing mercy, defends the vulnerable, and longs to answer His children with compassion. This message reminds us that delayed answers are not evidence of God's indifference. They are often invitations to deeper trust. Scripture repeatedly calls us to devote ourselves to prayer, to present every request to God with thanksgiving, and to remain faithful even when the answer has not yet come. Persistent prayer is not about convincing God to care. It is about staying connected to the One who has cared all along. When we refuse to let delay define God's character, our faith grows stronger, our hearts become more aligned with His, and we discover that He has been at work even while we were waiting.
