Dave and Chris had collectively been through dozens of rehabs, spent years in jail, and overdosed 500 million times. And they loved to laugh about it. That is until Chris tragically overdosed and died during the summer of 2018. This show was 80% debauchery and 20% recovery, now it's a little bit different. Relevant to everyone, not just addicts
Along w everyone else, I found Dopey after the This American Life episode and started listening from the beginning. I am not afflicted in the traditional sense, and though I’ve had plenty of friends and family who struggle, that isn’t why I listen- I started because the story was gripping and Dave and Chris were so lovable and relatable and very entertaining. I’ve stayed listening every week because the wisdom dispensed in this podcast is relevant and healing for all of us, whether drugs and alcohol are the problem or we have some other heavy burden. I listen to a lot of podcasts more explicitly about healing, trauma, the power of vulnerability and living without shame. But Dave and the Dopey Nation actually walk the talk and do it better than any I’ve found. This is a radically honest, sweet, hilarious and powerful podcast and I recommend it to anyone.
Love and Alo House
I am crying right now, this is love, drug addiction is the opposite of love for oneself and others, it’s actual a personification of self hate. Thanks for interviewing Mike m.
Please pray for my daughter.
It’s really irritating that Alo House does not accept HMO’s. They are your sponsors, can you please lobby them to be more for working class people. Currently they are for the super wealthy. I wanted my daughter to go there, but we cannot afford it.
They don’t even offer scholarships, unless that has changed since I last called.
Can you lobby them to give scholarships please? Can you also. Consider going after another sponsor that actually wants to help everyone and not just the super rich?
Thank you for your Podcast and thanks for reading this!
I know Chris wants to guide you from heaven, if you let him!
