Double Page Spread ep 256- Jeff Parker

Double Page Spread ep 256- Jeff Parker

Jeff Parker, with artists Bob Q and Ibrahim Moustafa, has written a new contribution to the rich legacy of James Bond in Dynamite Comics "James Bond: Origin". He explores teen Bond and his military adventures in the Royal British Naval Intelligence in 1941. Parker also wrote Batman '66, including the "Batman '66/Man From UNCLE" crossover and Wendi would be remiss if she didn't wish for a Bond/UNCLE crossover!

Double Page Spread ep 255- Peter Krause

Double Page Spread ep 255- Peter Krause

Last year, Ahoy Comics had a hit with the biting social satire, "The Wrong Earth" by writer Tom Peyer and artist Jamal Igle. Following the interactions of the hero Dragonflyman from one Earth and his counterpart Dragonfly from another, their worlds intersect. Now there is a prequel book, "Dragonfly and Dragonflyman", with art by Peter Krause. Krause joins Wendi to discuss the split personality involved in drawing these two timelines, his longtime partnership with Mark Waid on such books as "Irredeemable" and "Archie 1941", his upcoming mystery project "Blacking Out" with colorist Giulia Brusco, and being a very retro artist in a digital world.

Double Page Spread ep 254- Gene Ha

Double Page Spread ep 254- Gene Ha

One of the most convivial, generous and kindhearted men in comics, Gene Ha, returns to DPS! He was recently surprised at San Diego Comic Con with the Inkpot Award for his body of work. He continues his creator owned Lion Forge comic, "Mae", out with a new collection for volume 2. In "Mae", Ha explores a turbulent steampunk/fairy tale-esque world of cat warriors and battling hierarchies and the two sisters who have just reunited to find their father in it.

Double Page Spread ep 253- Matthew Erman and Lisa Sterle

Double Page Spread ep 253- Matthew Erman and Lisa Sterle

The creative duo of writer Matthew Erman and artist Lisa Sterle are responsible for one of the most unsettling and disturbing recent books, "Long Lost" from Scout Comics. Yet they are also responsible for "Care Bears" and the art for the "GLOW Summer Special"! Wendi breaks down this dichotomy of seeming opposites as well as discussing Erman's upcoming sci fi romance "Bonding" from Vault Comics, explaining the Care Bear Cousins and digressing on which musicians really deserve a biopic.

Double Page Spread ep 252- Walter Ostlie and Bob Frantz

Double Page Spread ep 252- Walter Ostlie and Bob Frantz

Every week is shark week for Walter Ostlie and Bob Frantz of "Metalshark Bro"! This comic (co-written by Frantz and Kevin Cuffe) is a joyful, insane romp about a laid back shark forced to do the dirty work of Satan's nephew so he can just get back to his life in the sea. These two bring just as much fun and electricity to the conversation as they discuss everything from what type of hat a flying eyeball would wear, to which Jack Nicholson character GI Joe's "Shipwreck" is based on, and ponder if Jabberjaw was really a good drummer. You can donate now to the kickstarter for Metalshark Bro vol. 2 at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/637571649/metalshark-bro

Quality that is up, up, and away.

Wendi Freeman is a rockstar when interviewing some of the greatest people in the comics industry. From big names to indie folk, Wendi drops the same amount of energy, intellect, and an abundance of canonical knowledge into each episode. She also has great taste in film! Go listen and enjoy.

Excellent Interviews!

Double Page Spread is a delightful podcast filled with excellent interviews with a wide array of comic professionals. Wendi is always enthusiastic and positive and her questions are interesting and well researched. We're fans of Mike Grell and Mark Schultz and those interviews first attracted our attention and we are so happy that they did. Since discovering the show, we now look forward to every new episode.
