Will Fanatics Fest Impact The National In Any Way?; Hobby Implications of eBay Acquiring Goldin Auctions; Shohei Ohtani Really In The Clear?
EPISODE 205 - Clark, Hyung, and Will open the show talking about the Goldin Auctions acquisition by eBay and what that means for the hobby. Then they take a brief moment to discuss the latest development in the Shohei Ohtani interpreter gambling scandal and whether they believe Shohei is really in the clear (and if they've become nervous at all about investing in his cards again.)
Then for Hobby Headlines, the guys go over the other big announcement that Fanatics Fest is taking place this August in New York City. They discuss whether this is good or bad news for The National that takes place just a few weeks prior. And they also discuss who Fanatics Fest is for and what they're hoping to expect at the inaugural event.
Next, they play another round of "Would You Rather" where Clark presents a couple of hobby scenarios and Hyung and Will decide which one they rather choose.
Lastly, as usual, they play their weekly segment "Pick 1" with the guest hosts putting up two cards this time and everyone debating which they'd rather invest in.

Are Recent Chase Cards Cool or Gimmicky (Wemby Topps Dynasty Alien Inscription; Caitlin Clark Set, Beatles Quad Auto)?; Mike Trout Red Refractor a Buy at $200K!; Playing "To Buy or Not To Buy"
EPISODE 204 - Clark, John, and Will open the show discussing the Mike Trout 2009 Bowman Chrome red refractor rookie autograph card which dropped 80% in value within 1.5 years (from $1.08 million to $216,000.) Was it a steal at the $200K price tag or is that money better spent on other cards?
Then for Hobby Headlines, they go over some of the recent chase cards and sets (ie. Victor Wembanyama Topps Dynasty card with alien inscription drawing; Caitlin Clark Collegiate set to name a couple) announced in the hobby, and categorize each of them as "cool" or "gimmicky."
Next, they introduce a new segment called "To Buy or Not To Buy" where Clark, John, and Will each talk about a card they're thinking of buying. And then the other two try to convince the one looking to buy reasons to buy the card or to talk them out of it for whatever reason.

Making Predictions for 2024 MLB Season and Impact on Card Values of Key Players With Help From Ex-Pro Baseball Players Chris Begg and Jason Willow; Making Some Hobby Hot Takes
EPISODE 202 - Clark and Hyung welcome the hosts of The Oppotaco Podcast Chris Begg and Jason Willow – both former pro-baseball players as well as card collectors – to help kick off MLB Opening Day.
Off the top, they discuss the latest on the Shohei Ohtani's interpreter gambling controversy and monitor whether prices have dropped on Ohtani cards listed by panic sellers.
Then for Hobby Headlines, Begg and Willow share some of their MLB predictions including MVP picks, home run leaders, and Cy Young candidates. Then they all discuss whether any of those players are worth buying to invest in or to just collect as a card for the PC. They also go over the top 6 prospects/rookies this season and go over the value of some of their rookie cards to see if they'd buy, sell, or hold.
Next, they bring back the segment "Hobby Hot Takes" and make some bold statements and predictions for the upcoming season (ie. Wyatt Langford is a bust this season; Ronald Acuna Jr. becomes the first player to hit 50 homers and steal 50 bases.)

Meh
As others have said, they are kids figuring it out. It’s worth listening to what they have to say as they probably have the pulse of other young bros with a little experience and entry level cash are thinking. So, still it’s like like like like fun. They like the word like, like, a lot.

I have been searching for some new sports card podcasts. This one is very similar to the rest, same commentary and talking points as a 1000 other podcasts. These guys are obviously younger, because every other word is “like”. Don’t think I’ll be a regular.
