How Music Tastes Reflect Your Life Journey - 127

How Music Tastes Reflect Your Life Journey - 127

Uh-oh, there's no responsible parent in the room- what's gonna happen now?? Matt's busy on a work trip this week, so Dalton and David take the mics on this week's deep dive into music and its significance both in general life and in our own specific lives.

Dalton talks about how different time periods in his life correspond to different music tastes, and how that connects with his growth as a person. Not only does it change with his age, but it also deeply influences his philosophies, and the conversation becomes whether or not that is a good thing. Follow Dalton from his Hair Metal/Hard Rock beginnings through his pop-punk phase and into his dark industrial trap eras, and hear stories from each as he weaves through. David gives his own take on how music is both an influence and reflection of our adolescence, and then the two move that into how songwriting and creating music has had just as much of an effect on life and mentality and expression as listening to music has. All this and more this week!

The Mind of a Child, & Getting Fired Over a Birthday Party - 126

The Mind of a Child, & Getting Fired Over a Birthday Party - 126

Also Featured: Dalton celebrates his historic Spikeball win over Matt and tells us what it feels like to finally be the younger sibling that outshines the elder. Then the boys recap their Easter weekends and the time they spent with family. That leads us into a conversation about a child's mind development, from first memories, to memories vs experiences, and into why a child's mind is both simple and complex at the same time growing up. Then the boys figure out whether or not leading a worship choir on a plane at 30,000 feet is cool or not! They follow that up with a story about a man who had a panic attack over a birthday party he specifically requested not to have at work, and then got reprimanded and eventually fired over. All this and more!

Norse Myths are Darker Than We Thought - 125

Norse Myths are Darker Than We Thought - 125

Also Featured: It's time for another Deep Dive! The Northman comes out next Friday, so the boys wanted to really dig deeper into their ancestral religions, cultures, and mythologies! So today's episode is about Norse Mythology, and the origins and contexts of the culture. They get into the unusual harshness of the religion and its complete focus on glory through battle and war, something very contrary to most of today's most significant World Religions. They get into some of the darker and weirder stories from the mythology, like the creation from murder myth and Loki being the mother of an 8 legged horse monster. They also discuss how even the Norse gods weren't above sacrifice, and were flawed just as us. Then they find out which monsters they would put up a solid fight against in toe-to-toe combat. and more!

Bob Bagnall ,

Outstanding!

I look forward to every Friday! Excellent production, rich storytelling, and wild tangents every week! The only downfall of this podcast is that Dalton doesn’t sing enough. He has a beautiful voice. ❤️

More Drumm

I like Dalton’s reviews and mini segments but can we get some more Matt in there? I was a Matt segment on how to get into fancy bars for free or how to know when I’ve been scammed by a salesman
