STORY 1: Gwinnett County Sports Hall of Fame Honors Class of 2024

The Gwinnett County Sports Hall of Fame held its 13th annual induction ceremony at Gas South Arena, marking a memorable evening with the surprise induction of Taylor Rooks, a journalist and Peachtree Ridge graduate, setting a precedent in the event's history. Rooks, honored alongside other distinguished Class of 2024 inductees, including NFL star Cameron Heyward, shared her immense pride and the impact of Gwinnett County on her success, highlighting the nurturing community that fostered her dreams. The ceremony celebrated the achievements of local athletes and personalities, simultaneously supporting the Gwinnett County Public Schools Foundation, demonstrating the event's dual purpose of recognition and community aid.

STORY 2: Police Arrest Man Accused of Shooting At Driver He Tried To Rob In Peachtree Corners

Gwinnett County Police have apprehended Quavion Black, a 19-year-old from Stockbridge, following a shooting incident during a robbery attempt in Peachtree Corners on April 12. The altercation occurred at The Vines Apartments parking lot, where Black allegedly demanded money from a truck driver and fired shots as the vehicle fled. Arrested on charges including aggravated assault and obstruction, Black is now detained at Gwinnett County Jail. No injuries were reported in the incident. This arrest showcases the swift response of local law enforcement to violent crimes in the community.

STORY 3: Lionheart Theatre's 'Breaking Legs' Offers Lots of Laughs

Lionheart Theatre is set to entertain audiences with its upcoming production of "Breaking Legs," a classic comedy that brings together a beautiful girl, mobsters, and mayhem in an Italian restaurant owned by a successful mobster. The story unfolds as a playwright, in search of financial backing for his latest work, entangles with the mobster's family in a series of comedic events. The theater has scheduled shows from May 3-19, with tickets available for purchase. Tanya Gilmer, Lionheart's founder, expresses enthusiasm for this crowd-pleasing comedy, reminiscent of Broadway's golden days. Directed by Scott King, the cast includes talents such as Gabby Naylor, Jackson Trent, Jr., and Justin Collins. Beyond "Breaking Legs," Lionheart anticipates a vibrant season with several other productions and summer theater camps for kids in June. Located in Norcross, the theater also anticipates a special celebration in 2025 following a pandemic-interrupted anniversary.
